School
liek iot sux, amirite?
On a more serious note, it should start later?
And the system is whacked. It's not truly based on comprehension.
I'll be quiet now.

Public school systems are designed to creative a reasonably punctual, somewhat productive workforce that can read, write, and do basic arithmetic. It is up to you whether or not you turn it into anything else. Also, it has been scientifically proven that a later start time increases retention among high school students, ( according to the radio show I heard on NPR, :P ).
You might look into alternative school, home school, or GED plus community college?

My high school started at 8.
On the other hand, it ended at 2...
Wait til you get to university, especially if you have a weird schedule (more likely if you're doing an arts degree). I start most days at 1:30 pm, but Tuesdays I start at 8:30am and Fridays I start at 10am. And Tuesdays I have 9 hours of class...

School is so fucked... I mean: Is there even anyone who can do something creative on command? That's what we gotta do... Writing, for example. Being in a warm classroom with 30 other people, while you are starving and you arn't allowed to make a sound - it kills ALL my creativety!

The public school system (k through 12) is mostly useless. It is designed to create the entry level drones that fill all the menial positions. Mostly it fails at that as well. All it really does is set people up for a really really big shock when they either get a job or go to university/college, whichever comes first. And highschool classes/schedule arent all that bad compared to alot of university/college ones. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday ive got classes starting at 9 and ending at 5, with one hour for lunch.

I go to a lycée in Vienna that has an "experimental" system which makes me have to exeriment hunger becuase I never finish earlier than 7 p.m. (starting at 8:15 a.m.) and either have no break at all or 3 or 4 hours to hang around and do nothing. And since I NEVER have any money I don't get to eat anything until 8 p.m. which then results with a stomach ache.
And I really wound't have anything against starting school at 9 or 10, becuase getting up at 6 a.m. every morning doubtfully establishes discipline. All it does is make me sleep for over 13 hours every night in the weekends.

My school works doesn't work on individual support. We only get one lecture a month on oral hygiene and that’s it.

High school sucks, plain simple. Someschools suck more than others, though. The less freedom and the more rules given, the worse it becomes. But it is an unavoidable part of life if you want to be a professional someday. But it will be over one day, nothing lasts forver.

I don't know what kind of high school you guys went to, but mine was pretty good. It was friendly, flexible, and most of the teachers did try their best to be good teachers.
I really think high school is what you make of it. If you have an attitude problem and disrespect your teachers and don't do your work, you're damn right you're going to hate high school. It would be your own fault.

I love college, my classes dont begin until 11:00. Don't worry, the bureaucracy of high school will be over soon.
Ophelia- Was your school just a normal public school? Or was it a performance art something or other? I'm jealous of your teachers!

I hated high school solely because it started at 7am. Which is all kinds of wrong for me. I just don't function at seven very well.
College is better. Mainly because everyone leaves me alone now. Adults seem to respect "She's reading/has earbuds in, I bet she doesn't want to talk to me right now" a lot more than high schoolers.

I tend to sleep through Block 1.
I remember having teachers tell me "That was your 1 time, Skyler. You have to stay awake from now on." I just give them lip service, and go back to sleep the next Monday.
I tend to make authoritarian figures like me without sucking up to them, somehow, so I don't get in trouble all that much.
Also I think they figure if they piss me off, I might go Columbine on their asses. I love suburbia.

Plain old middle class high school.
Like I said, it is what you make of it.
