Right VS. Left
I'm responding to the following statements here instead of on the 9/11 thread because that thread is not meant to be a political debate.

Ever notice LadyLuceitia and Maguman post back to back in every political thread here? Both having the same opinion?
Also notice both just joined and 99% of their posts are all efforts to skew facts in the political forums?

As for the accusation that I am a right-winger, and therefore merely slinging right-wing propaganda:
I am pro-choice. I am pro-gay marriage. I am for the legalization of marijuana.
I am against the war in Iraq and the Patriot Act. I think Bush is one of the worst presidents we've ever had.
If this somehow makes me a right-winger, then Sternn has a very unique definition of right wing.
For the record, I'm a registered Democrat, though I vote more like a moderate independent. I think my family would disown me if I registered Republican! "Right winger," that's a good one.
Also, if you look at my last 20 posts, 11 were in the politics forum, and the other 9 were mainly in the Music forum. That means only 55% of my posts are attempts to "skew facts" here in Politics.
I just wanted to draw some attention to how "buzz words" like right wing are misused, as well as how people use made-up statistics to try to sound credible. Political mudslinging is basically a defense mechanism for debaters - trying to personally discredit your 'opponent' rather than argue them based on the facts.
And coming from a long lineage of bleeding-heart liberals, I can't let the accusation that I am "right wing" go unchallenged.

I'd consider you more right than liberal. Just because you claim to support this and that doesn't make you one way or the other.
Also, there is more to the spectrum that left and right, such as Libertarian and Authoritarian. I'd consider you a Neutral Authoritarian. Mainly the way you argue your points and overall tone towards those who speak ill of popular culture.
I don't believe everything the media, government or people tell me. I take all facts and draw my own conclusions.
The fact you have to make a thread, instead of providing viable facts, that you are leftist at heart, shows alot in itself. I don't have to prove what side of any spectrum I'm on, you can tell by the way I tackle issues.
Don't try to poke holes in others arguments, try to assemble an overall truth by working together and comparing thoughts. It's not a contest of who is more liberal than who.

I made a post about it in several other threads in which CptSternn Jr. has adopted the exact same rhetoric/talking points, but I'll reiterate it again:
The meager left/right bitching is a pathetic last-ditch, "You're wrong, I'm right," tactic at discrediting anything. It doesn't work, simply because the discussion/debate was over the minute these individuals stopped arguing the issues and started waving around this sort of diatribe.
It's like having an intelligent debate with someone, only for their rebuttal to amount to, "Oh yeah? Well you're stupid."
Some folks need to pull their heads out of their asses and understand that left/right politics has little to do with a right/wrong issue.

The facts I've seen been made is that any time someone tries to bring up an issue, they get torn down by the same individuals who all share the same view. Also, in those individuals minds, having more people saying yes to one idea makes that idea right. Popular opinion as its been said. Just because you have a group of people nodding their heads and high fiving each other, doesn't make your arguments relative or meaningful.

I'm not sure how else to "prove" my political allegiance. I did take a political beliefs quiz at http://politicalbrew.com/politest.cgi that seems to be fairly well written, and I scored as a Strong Liberal on Non-Fiscal Issues and a Centrist on Fiscal Issues.

I think that most people could deduce that I'm not a neo-con from how I tackle issues. I just wanted to hammer the point home, because quite honestly I was baffled at Sternn's accusation and thought it was a good example of how he manipulates information.

My ideal debate is one where both sides are looking to find the truth, but more often than not on here people just want to prove their own point. The truth I am trying to get at right now is that there are certain arguments that signify that a debate has gotten off track, and if more people took notice of such cues we'd waste less time on pointless arguments.

It's generally not views that are being thrown around in actual debates about politics. Most of the time people are arguing the supporting evidence, or the fact that people like CptSternn post articles with factual information, but introduce their own erroneous commentary, often using real facts to support his own false contexts (i.e. "Shoot to kill laws give legal means for citizens to shoot and kill someone trying to steal their cellphone").

Popular opinion or unpopular opinion, doesn't matter. Right and wrong are the basis for most discussions about politics, minus those regarding moral values and anything not having to be supported by a factual platform.
At the end of the day, if you're just arguing opinions, obviously no one is right or wrong.

LMAO
If the quiz says it, must be true, anybody with the capability to create an online quiz is definatly a great judge of character.

Oh believe me, I usually hate online quizzes. They're usually written by semi-illiterate 13 year olds. But this one talked about specific responses to specific issues. Why not take it yourself and see if you think it's accurate? In my case I feel it was.

eh, I'm not into politics and stating my positions on the political realm based on an online quiz just sounds silly. to each their own...
