I don't know what bogans or NewRocks are... I feel so out of it. Must be British slang...

You seem to like more metally stuff. Here are some recommendations, if you haven't heard 'em:
Lacuna Coil (older is better)
Lacrimosa
Korpiklaani
Type O Negative
Leaves' Eyes
Theatre of Tragedy
Within Temptation
Kamelot
Theatres des Vampires (an acquired taste)

Welcome!

I don't know what a bogan is either, unless it's a hobgoblin-y sort of thing.

But New Rocks are boots, and pretty boots at that.

Welcome to the boards!!!

Deathstars are very cool. I like them... and I like Green.Lady's suggestions. It could be worth your while to take a look at some of the bands.

Well enjoy your stay.

Boots, eh? *googles newrocks* Not my style, but they seem nice.

I also looked on Wikipedia for "bogan":

"Bogan (pronounced /ˈbəʉ.gn̩/, rhyming with slogan) is Australian and New Zealand English slang, usually pejorative, for a person who is, or is perceived to be uncouth, unsophisticated or of a lower-class background. According to the stereotype, the speech and mannerisms of "bogans" indicate poor education and uncultured upbringing. 'Bogans' usually reside in economically disadvantaged suburbs (often outer metropolitan) or rural areas."

That's quite the insult! Oh, my. I didn't get that impression at all.

And Deathstars are a good band, I agree.

'Cool' is in the eye of the beholder.
And in the words out of my mouth, of course.

Well basically. I use flash mx, which is a game and movie making programme. It's really hard though because you have to individually draw and code everything. Although for my new game, legend of zelda ocarina of time 2D, im using sprites.

Ive done quite a bit though, such as walking, fighting, the hud, the life bar, shops houses and talking people. Anymore questions feel free to ask.

I think Bogan is the Ozzie term for 'Chav'. Those crazy Ozzies and Kiwis, it's all that wearing of hats with corks on bits of string, makes 'em go funny in the head.

Anyway! A fellow Brit! Who shares the city with the same name as the pub in Shaun of the Dead. Huzzah! I'm from the South-West originally, but now I'm in Wales studying Policing at university.. Anyway.
Aah the old New Rocks and trenchcoat look, something I'm guilty of too. That is, if I could afford New Rocks.
We arn't feeding stereotypes at all are we! ><

Personally I'll always take my Docs over New Rocks because Docs are just amazing. But that's probably down to personal opinion.
What sort of trenchie are you having if you don't mind me asking?

And when you say retro gaming are we talking... Metal Slug? o_O

Welcome to the boards. Even though not many people here like metal, I still love it. In particular, Dimmu Borgir and Dragonforce stand out from your list.

I'm familiar with the process; I've been designing games at home for almost five years now. Never used flash much, most of what I do is made into executable files, though lately I've been editing a Super Mario World rom to make my own version out of it.
