Angry Moonlight..

I was watching the beginning of this show on CBS last night.. It's called Moonlight, and from what I gathered, it involves vampires.
IN the episode last night, they were executing a cult leader. People showed up to protest, and they were all "Goths"... ughh...

I copied this from the official site:
"Beth gets close to Audrey, a young woman who is the sole survivor of a brutal attack on her family when she was just 10 years old. They meet and bond at the killer's execution and, because of her own childhood experience of being kidnapped, Beth feels very protective. The killer's cult followers vow to avenge their leader's dying wish that those responsible for his execution also be put to death. When Audrey claims the killer called her after his execution, Beth asks Mick to investigate this possibility and to protect her. Mick learns that the executed killer was turned into a vampire right before his execution, which allowed him to survive the “fatal” injection and gives him the opportunity to fulfill his goal of killing everyone who put him in prison. One of those people is, of course, Audrey, and she and Beth hole up in Mick’s apartment, which has a beefed-up security system. While Mick is out, Beth snoops around and realizes that Mick was the mysterious man who saved her from her kidnapper when she was a child. She doesn’t yet realize that Coraline was the kidnapper. The killer vamp breaks into the apartment and goes after Audrey, but Beth gets in the way. Just as the vamp is about to dispatch her, Mick returns and decapitates him, saving Beth once again"

All the followers were Goth.. there was even a cybergoth.
More negative views from the media.. lovely..

you can watch the full episode here.. the "Goths" can be seen starting at about 1:30 in part one..

Heh, well, the first episode of Moonlight also involved a pernicious cult leader manipulating a group of young followers, all of whom dressed in a traditionally goth manner but were overtly referred to as 'emos'. We evidently can assume that the show's producers don't really know which subculture they're slandering, so no need to get upset.
In either case, if you're looking for a counterpoint to all of the violent, satanic, vampire-obsessed goths that pop up on Moonlight, one of the central characters on Lifetime TV's cheesy vampire show Blood Ties is depicted to be a goth, and is generally sympathetic.

In the show, none of the nutjob's followers were identified as "goths" per se, but were dressed along the line of what's become the standard Hot Topic-issued uniform for those "darkly inclined".

Granted it would've been far more scary if nutjob's murderous followers had dressed in pastel polo shirts & chinos, & looked just like that weirdo movie-watching, plastic-smile family in the Netflix commercials...

Personally, Nick & his vampire buds dress like most of the affable goths I know.

I believe his name is Mick St. John. And he's a private investigator.

(Note: I am mocking the opening sequence of this horrid show, not you, le revenant!)

Dammit, my instincts told me his name was Mick but it was long after 2 a.m. & I told them instincts "shaddup & get back to sleep!!"

Personally I like the show.
I used to like Ghost Whisperer too, the show before it, but it "jumped the shark" at some point & I stopped attempting to be home in time to catch Ghost Whisperer or even tape it.

He became a private investigator because he wants to help people.

Is he helping people to atone for being a vampire and killing people so long ago or is he helping people to atone while trying to find a way to become mortal again? If so, I think both have been shown on tv already...Angel and Forever Knight, to be exact.

Nah, atonement has nothing to do with it. In fact, motivation has nothing to do with it. He's just a chill guy.

A chill guy who, inexplicably, falls for a marginally unattractive reporter for Buzzwire.

And, good call Drewsilla...it turns out that one of the writers on this show (who has since seen the light and left) was David Greenwalt, co-creator of Angel.
