Outside in the reality that everyone gets to live in, I tend to hold doors because it's polite and I am offended when someone lets a door slam in my face, so I will not do it to others. Same for holding lifts, same for apologising if I accidentally walk into someone, etc. I don't find that to be in the least a sub thing, it's simply manners.
But I am a little old fashioned in my manners and bearing. I am often called 'Victorian' because I keep such an upright posture and use such formal diction and manners. Apparently I'm very school mistress-ish, so even politeness and quiet manners are converted into a vaguely dominant attitude! Haha... terrible thing, habit.

I tend to be the same for the most part, it's interesting because people never expect it. At least when it comes to holding doors and being "polite". When it comes to gender I never was the type to submit to men in any fashion, needless to say I was always at odds with my father in that respect, heh. But with women it was and has been different, or at least when it comes to one I like/care about.
Sadly there are a lot of people who, given an inch, take a mile and here at least there are a lot of them especially within the "scene". I was also raised that if you do not look someone in the eye you are A) disrespecting them and B) it was a way to know whether they were lying.
That and again the inch/mile analogy. There is a difference between politeness and good manners and such tho. Those are just the way things should be, be nice it comes back to you. Even being raised in a small redneck town I figured that out LOL.
Some in the "scene" take issue with me on my thoughts because I don't just "do" whatever it is they expect me to do, then again my beliefs have been hammered through the rather nasty crucible that is my past. It's why I tend to be very guarded especially when it comes to the "sub" aspect of things. Once bitten twice shy.

I don't quite understand those who assume that someone should automatically do whatever it is. To be a good Dom/Domme, surely you should prove that you are strong enough to handle the sub, instead of take a temper when the sub's not already perfectly molded to your whims?
As for being 'bitten'- you poor creature. I've avoided any complications within the scene, chiefly by avoiding playing with anyone I do not know reasonably well. Outside of it, I've had trouble with people who've assumed that my manners and civility are a sign that they can take me for all I've got. It hasn't worked, but it's still unpleasant to deal with.
Meeting someone's eyes is something with various connotations. In the world in general, it's only polite to make eye contact. Someone who won't even look at you is probably not worth your time. Within the scene, though, eye contact takes on different meanings. Is that a look of challenge, daring to meet the Domme's eyes? Or is that a look of devotion, staring in blind trust at the Domme you have put your safety in the hands of? It's very much a matter which changes from scene to scene.
hmm.... we should stop dragging this off topic. Do you have/ use an MSN? Is it in the MSN thread?

Misscogs, I just saw your new pics. Damn, you're beautiful! One of the very, very, very rare people who suits black lipstick, it looks so good on you.

It's stunning on you, dear. I'm sure the boys (and most of the girls) of the board will agree.

Kontan-I love the pic! Your hair is excellent!
Mis Cogs-You're gorgeous, what more can I say? I love the pic you labeled as "Blank". Very cute, in a semi-creepy way. I dig the semi-creepy though.

Thank you. It took me all day. Not really. I've been having this weird kick with my hair where it looks like a cross between Robert Smith and the Queen Alien Xenomorph...

*blush* Thank you, Nevan.
A flirt you are, but I mind not!
The guy on the right is called Allen (or Chrystovarr). He is now in my new band.
