I wish it were a Wilde reference, but it isn't. It's actually a musical term. There is a musical mode called Dorian Mode... it's when the music is in the key of, say, C for example, but the song is centered around a D. Examples of this mode are "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor?" and "Scarborough Fair." I'm extremely musical, and in my theory classes learning the diatonic scales, Dorian was always my favorite one.

Well, I have listened to Bauhaus, of course, but not enough to proclaim them as my favorite band. I will get right on that, though.

Oh. I've never been good with music theory. What do you play?

I've played piano for most of my life. All of my piano experience made me quite good with Music Theroy when I took it in high school.

I didn't actually know that Phrygian was popular in goth music, but that's pretty interesting! I will remember that.

I can play it, but it would take some practice for me to get it nice and fluid again. I agree, it is a beautiful song. =)

Dorian mode is very difficult to sing (but nothing can be worse than freaking tritones...mreh)...the fact that you even have a modicum of knowledge of music theory has made my day!

Welcome indeed!

Oh, tritones... weren't those banned in church? =)
I loved music theory when I took it in high school.

I think I've made it my goal in life to learn to rock a pipe organ.

Wow, I feel the love. ^_^ Thank you for such a warm welcome!

Also, I went to middles school and high school in Gilroy, which is just south of SJ... I go to San Jose State University, and I live on-campus (at least 4 days out of the week.) So yeah... No Willow Glen, but close! =)

Hey
Welcome, and such. Always good to have non-troll new members, particularly when they're demonstrating such emphatically non-troll tendencies (translation- you seem cool and smart. Welcome).

I hereby revoke my previous statement in response to question 7. I would like to die by blowing myself up in chem lab. That would be amazing.
