Good at English?
Try this: for every word you get right, ten grains of rice are donated to feed those who are starving.
It doesn't sound like a lot, but the more people in on it, the more people get fed.
Plus, it's a great way to improve your vocab!

This has been being passed around every board I belong to, so it seems to be doing well.

500 grains of rice. Can't remember how much I got right/wrong. Most were easy. But there's quite a few that are new. That's it. I'm playing again.

Why do the grains disappear and then reappear sometimes, though?

Going for a thousand, I'm only at 770 for now.
But damn, I only have an average vocab level of 37. =[

They show up in groups of 100 on the side.
After you get 100 grains, the bowl starts over.

560 on level 38. I'll do more later.
This is a great idea.

Vocab varies between 40 and 45, as some words seem to be defined differently in American English than in UK English. I'm not always sure if they're using the meaning of the word as it was in Chaucer's writings (which they sometimes do), or if they're using a modern meaning (which also happens)

It was addicting! I played it for awhile until I found out it never ends!
I was trying to expand my vocabulary in preparation for the GRE test.
It didn't help me much though :/

I've been noticing that some of the words are defined oddly in general. The correct answer is occassionally a very tenuous synonym for the word in question, secondary definitions sometimes take precedence over the more common, et cetera.
