Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Top Genres
I guess i'll model this after the "top 5 bands" thread, only with musical genres. I see a lot of threads about music, but none like this.
So, what are your top favorite genres? What genres would you absolutely kill to have something new from in your music collection, nowadays? Also, what are your not-so-favorite genres? Since it's almost a general consensus here that no one likes or can stand rap and the like (including nu-metal), avoid the obvious. Of the genres of music you do like, which subgenres can you not stand? And what types of music do you mostly have in your collection?

1) Gothic Rock -Just a general term for Siouxsie, Bauhaus, etc. etc.
2) Bubblegum Dance/Bubblegum Pop
3) Eurodance/Electro/Electronica
4) Dark Cabaret
5) Symphonic/Progressive Rock
I also like some punk music, but I much rather listen to something I can dance to like Eurodance, or some form of techno club music. Don't get me wrong though, I love my Gothic rock too, but that's more writing/recreational music for me. I like moving to my fast-paced music.

1) Post-punk
2) Psychedelic rock
3) "Futurepop" (fantastic for dancing)
4) 80s synthpop and new wave (for the win!)
5) Gothic/symphonic metal
I hate aggrotech, emo (the actual emotional hardcore), bands that attempt to be emo, most ska-punk except for a very few select bands, and modern "rock" like Nickelback. *shudders*

1. UK82 aka British hardcore punk
2. Anarchist punk
3. Hardcore punk
4. Thrash metal
5. Street punk
Wow, isn't my list suprising. *sarcasm*
I hate emo, screamo, modern rock, country, most Anti Flag, Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly. I just don't like the sound of bagpipes in a punk song, I just don't like it!

Haunted, shut the fuck up! You don't listen to ANYTHING outside of goth! XD
Anyway, on terms of my most favorite genres, and those I most have would be...
1.Gothic Rock
2.Stoner Rock/Doom
3.New Wave
4.Southern Rock
5.EBM/Industrial
Despite popular belief *glare*, I've never liked punk that much. I love deathrock and post-punk, but punk's never hit me hard. I also hate modern "hardcore" with a passion. Anything that has loud guitars but vocals that sound even more pussified than n'sync is just fucking crass. It's an artfuck. I also loathe modern country music. I have a taste for the older stuff, but all this shit nowadays sounds just like the pop rock they play on the radio, albeit with a redneck draw.
