Klaus Nomi

Does anybody around here like Klaus Nomi?

I don't suppose he's really 'gothic' ... he's really quite impossible to catagorize - but looking at some of his early performances he looks to have been 'Tim Burtonesque' before Time Burton - and whatever you think of his music, he certainly had an amazing voice.

I've become quite obsessed with him lately - and find it amazing that he died in the early eighties, but I only heard of him for the first time last month.

There are some pictures and songs on this Myspace Page

Not to everybody's taste I'm sure - but would be intersted in hearing opinions.

I heard of the guy from a documentary called "Nomi Song" or at least I think that was the title. The guy's great especially in his live shows.

Oh, he's special alright... His videos, now those are something. Overall, I would say watch them just to look at his hair.

I love KN. He's always held a special place in my heart. I love his music. It's just so strange. He's not for everyone though. He's an artist you have to "get" before you can really like his music.

What a strange man.

I do like it though, his range is bloody ridiculous.

He was a trained countertenor, you know. A common practice in Byzantine Opera after the end of the use of castrato. I just love how he manged it combine sci-fi, new wave, vinyl, & opera. Sure, it was strange. Then again, it sure beats seeing the same thing over and over again.
