New Bauhaus album... and break up

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/..._id=1003680868
Quote:
The good news for Bauhaus fans: the group is eyeing a March 4 release for "Going Away White," its first studio album since 1983. The bad news: there will be no further activity from the legendary goth band, who reunited in 2005 for the Coachella festival and later toured the world.
So... they got back together, had a tour which I managed to miss due to A-level exams, and they're going away again. Wicked of them, leaving before I had a chance to say hello! Still, It's nice that they're leaving us this going-away gift.
Hmm... March 4 is only a week or so after my birthday...

I hope they go out with a bang. i.e an album that rock our world.

I'm glad I catched them live. They were great.

NOOOOO!!!! They're gonna incite a mass goth ritual suicide. I've gotta get the new album though.

So I blew off all the chances I had to see Bauhaus, and now I'll never have another.

The self-loathing is great.

Two summers ago they were less than 50 miles away from me, they were at summerfest and I missed it!! Why did they have to play at a music festival that I don't like so I never even thought of looking to see if they were there why! Summerfest wasn't soo full of bands I didn't like I would have checked, damn you summerfest!

I missed my chance to see them because I hated Nine Inch Nails too much. I'm gone and made myself sad now.

My excuse is, thankfully, one I can't blame myself for. Their Ireland date was the same as my exam date for one of my major modules. Had I missed it, I'd have failed my course.
Still sucks, though.

What? I can't be the only one here who've seen them live, can I? I mean, this is a goth community...?

Some of us just haven't had the chance. I've had only once chance, and that was thwarted by education.
Believe me, I'd not have missed them for a normal day at school. Only because the exam was a pass-or-fail thing did I miss them.
Damn examination board, scheduling things to get in my way....

I don't get the chance to see most bands because they only seem to play in London That is a real pet hate of mine. I know London has the biggest goth scene so to speak, but still, there are plenty of us scattered across this wretched island who could easily fill a venue

I'm really not that heartbroke about it. They're cool and all, but I prefered Peter Murphy's solo sound a bit more. Now as for goth bands after Bauhaus... oh yeah, good times. That's not to say that I don't like Bauhaus and a few songs they've made. Iggy Stardust, She's in Parties, In The Flat Fields... they're all good and fine. Then again, I don't own any Bauhaus CDs except for the first and I'm sure their other albums are better or more refined than the first and I'm looking forward to the new album. It should be good. Then again, I said the same thing about Specimen and look what we got for it.

So DAMN GLAD I got to see them on that NIN tour.
I just wish my fellow concert goers hadn't been such a huge collection of musical light-weights. I & a seemingly handful of people at the show were there for freakin' Bauhaus (dammit!) instead of NIN, and when they took the stage and Peter Freakin' Murphy stood there front & center w/ the band...well the sight could've been labeled "THIS IS GOTH, DAMMIT!".

Everyone around me, tho, just stared back blankly in their Hot Topic approved gear and muttered "who the hell are these guys?"

OH well, at least I got to hear & react to my fave live stuff off of Press the Eject... in real time, lol, even while being stared at by hordes of mall "goths" who apparently wondered what was so goth about a guy playing sax.

Peter Murphy's said he intends to start playing some Bauhaus stuff in his solo sets after the break up. This won't be the same as the band, of course, but it should ease the pain a little.

That's the most awesome thing I've heard all week. It's one of those moments where you just feel elevated above the masses.

Sucks that I never got a chance to see Bauhaus in person either (though major concerts I want to see are few and far between around here) but I look forward to the new album and anything from Peter Murphy as a solo act.

I've never been to a concert and probably never will be. I'm not into huge crowds or loud (read: earsplitting) music, so it's probably better that I never go. However, Bauhaus is one of the two bands I would actually like to see live (the Cure being the other; still a chance for that one), but alas, it is not to be. Life goes on.

In any case, I look forward to their final album.

Peter Murphy playing solo stuff makes it worse. Bauhaus was a real bandy band. You can't play that material in another context, and it will probably be gayed up anyway.
