Virgins Beware
Losing Virginity Later Linked to Sexual Problems
http://www.abcnews.go.com/Health/Sex...3932047&page=1
While past research has linked early sexual activity to health problems, a new study suggests that waiting too long to start having sex carries risks of its own.
Those who lose their virginity at a later age -- around 21 to 23 years of age -- tend to be more likely to experience sexual dysfunction problems later, say researchers at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute's HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies.
The study will appear in the January 2008 issue of the American Journal of Public Health.
Men who lose their virginity in their 20s, in particular, seemed to be more likely to experience sexual problems that include difficulty becoming sexually aroused and reaching orgasm.
The increase in sexual problems was also seen in those who had a comparably earlier sexual debut. And the researchers were quick to point out that there isn't enough evidence to say for sure whether waiting to have sex necessarily leads to sexual dysfunction down the road.
"Our results do not allow for causal interpretations," the study authors write.
...
So there you have it. Losing your virginity is healthy. This really flys in the face of the bush admins 'abstinence till yer married' programs, eh?

Unfortunately, as soon as the sluts find out, they'll get even more indignant, and pretty much go wild.

Hm, that's interesting. I learned some quite different in my Life Span and Development class--Girls who engage in sexual activity at younger ages are more like to have pyschological problems, live in poverty, and be obese.
I guess you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Heh...just kidding.
And yes, those abstinence only programs are total crap. Kids need to know how to protect themselves properly and know what's available to them.

The part of the article quoted does also state that there is a comparable level of dysfunction in those who start too early as well, suggesting that rushing into sex and doing one's best to lose one's virginity quickly is *also* unwise. Perhaps there's some kind of ideal median age?

I don't think this applies to women soo much as men seeing as how nomatter what women go sexualy dysfunctional after a certain age. Men however have no age limit as long as our equipment is working properly, to which this article applies. Also studies have concurred with what Delkaetre has said stating that girls are not mentaly capable of handling sex untill the age of 15, otherwise they face possible mental scarring. Heh back before I stopped listening to the radio I listened to Dr. Drew's radio show at night.

He's 27, 28 next month. He's had such bad luck with girls that I'm not sure if he will EVER be de-virgined.

Ummm....WTF? What makes you think women go "sexually dysfunctional" at a certain age? Menopause? Is that what you are talking about? Because many women report better sex after the "change" than before, primarily due to less worry about pregnancy risk. People can maintain active sex lives as long as they stay healthy. In fact, if you want to get particular about it, men are more likely to become impotent with age than women are likely to stop enjoying sex.
Also, I know you probably didn't mean anything by it, or were just not thinking, but why focus on girls' lack of ability to "mentally handle" sex at a young age? I'm sorry about that too honey, but in many cultures women of 15 are married, and a have a kid by then, and managing a household. (I'm not saying that is necessarily a good thing, just saying it happens, and I'm not saying that in this culture girls of 15 are grown, because here, they're not) The same simply cannot be said of males at that age. Mentally handling sexual activity isn't the problem. Handling the consequences of sexual activity(pregnancy, disease, relationships stresses, etc) is, whether you're male or female.

I apologize I was meaning sexualy dysfunctional in the more scientific sense as in being unable to reproduce. I do realize that the nerves in the area do not go inactive.
Bleh again I am sorry it seems I guess with my chain of focus on women and age problems I neglected the fact that it is both males and females that can be scarred by it. I do not mean things like pregnancy, disease, etc otherwise I would of said under the age of 18 (at least for the United States) . According to Dr. Drew teens under the age of 15 are not mentaly ready to handle sex and as stated before face possible mental scarring.

I wonder how much of the sexual dysfunction might be due to having a lower sex drive to start out with?
Most of the people I know who waited until their twenties to have sex weren't exactly squirming in their pants to have it. And sex drive is linked to hormones, so if you start out with a lower level of hormones and your level naturally drops with age....well, you're going to have dysfunction issues because your body just isn't manufacturing enough hormones.

Most people say "abstinence until marriage", but when you get down to it, most people don't really think that it's plausible. I mean, sure, it's a nice idea, but if you love somebody enough to marry them, why wouldn't you have sex with them?
I've never believed anything that I was taught in school about sex though. And what is my reasoning? It has nothing to do with the overly-biased christian teachings that they hide beneath their well meaning, it's more about the fact that they teach about 10 different things.
Health classes are a joke. I can't remember how many times I heard that "*insert controversial topic here* is the leading cause of death among teachers"

There is also the problem of finding out you and your new bride/husband aren't compatible in bed. Ever just had awkward sex?

"awkward sex"? You mean where the guy is only in it for his own gratification?

That is just sex with an asshat. I think he means something more like when you have very different rhythms and just can't seem to synch up or when you just like to do things differently (one likes wild crazy fun sex and the other likes slow tender love making is really not a good combo) or things just don't fit cervix poking is no fun)
