Dungeons & Dragons anyone?
alright, i realize i'm probably going out on a limb here, but surely i'm not the only one here who likes playing a rousing campaign of D&D. there's really nothing like getting out the books, dice and minis and letting loose on a hoard of kobolds or the ever fearsome dragon.

Yeah...I tried playing it once....I just couldn't get into to it. I wasn't too serious enough for them anyways.

I play.
Whether you get into it or not depends on if you have a decent GM and party at your first game. Because of the length of D&D campaigns, a bad first impression can in fact mean 'I wasted every wednesday for two months on this, gah!'. If you get a good group, though, then you make friends with the party and have a game with well thought out interactions and encounters.

I play story-based, I can't stand hack-n-slash.
Unless there's some decent actual story and character interaction, with some attempt at history and current affairs for the land the party's in, then it's not for me. Games which appeal to me include long term story-driven D&D campaigns, White Wolf games along the lines of Mage and Vampire (politics over power), etc. If I need a game for killing stuff and being really silly, I'll play traditional Paranoia.

Well, I guess it really just wasn't my bag. Though I wouldn't admit I did laugh a few times, I just couldn't get into to it. The whole role-playing thing. I don't role-play. I tried on board games and the internet. Just can't do it. Though I do enjoy making the character sheets. =)

heh, i can dig that. a well thought out campaign is worth its weight in gold. as the dm i do write campaigns, but i always try to bring an aspect of comedy into it to lighten things up. of course, while fighting a really hard opponent things do get serious.

Mhm. Prehaps it was setting as well. I'm not really medevil or anything. I prefer cyberpunk, or Victorian, or steampunk at that, for a a setting.

I have the most recent guide book, or rule book, or whatever, but I've never actually looked at it. I'm more into video stimuli. Even if it's the same exact thing, but with little animations, I'd prefer that.
