Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllp!!!!!
I've heard so many opinions on "what goth is". Some say it's a tupe of music and a life style, inner rebelion...I read somewhere that it's kind of like a role play...you know looking sad all the time and all that....A few days ago I was talking with a friend about what goth is....he really confused me.Can anybody tell me what goth is EXACTLY?I thought I had it all figured out, but now,it's all a blur.....Damn....

Fuck, are you serious?
In a site like this you didn't think of reading other threads about this?
Being a goth means liking goth music.
Being a goth is only at best relevant when discussing musical tastes and scenes; nothing else.
The fact that Goth seems to be such an important, over-exaggerated label, around both goths and non-goths, is just a clear example of how society gives a little too much damn about the musical style someone is into, rather than enjoying music in its own merits.

Disregard Julian, he made an IC (in character) post in a thread which is clearly intended to be OOC (out of character).
Rotting Corpse, "Goth" is a MMRLRPG (Massively Multiplayer Real Life Role Playing Game), participants in which pretend to be members of a 'sub-culture' comprised by individuals who celebrate a fictional genre of music known as 'goth rock', which the core rules establish to have originated some time in the late 1970's or early 1980's.
Typically, dressing in all black or adorning your person with such aesthetic acoutrements as spikes, lace, or fishnets- and, increasingly, with the recent release of the 'Cybergoth' and 'Rivet' expansions, goggles, respirators, and dredfalls- will communicate to others the idea that you're currently playing 'Goth', and they will respond to you accordingly.
The RPG, having won the 1983 origins award for best original game, is naturally extremely nuanced, and its finer points are difficult to express in one post on this board, so I suggest you pick up the core rules at your local gaming shop if you're interested in playing.

Seriously, dear, you've turned this site into EncyclopediaDramtica...which is, by no means, a bad thing. Bravo.

I ok,but the whole role playing thing, does it depend on on the sub-gender you're in (drama goths etc)? I know I sound stupit, but I'd rather ask and learn, than to belive something that's nt true....Sorry if I'm being annoying....

Well, unless you want to be a trad Goth, you will need to buy expansion packs, as said above.

Don't listen to ^
That is all in-character info.
I think Amazon.com has info on both the original MMRLRPG and the expansion packs, but you have to ask for them. Try sending them an email.

I got mine from a local gaming/collectible shop.
To keep Goth exclusive though, you WILL have to ask for it. They keep it in the back 99% of the time.

Not really. Since Trad Goth went out of print around the beginning of the 90's, you'd have to scour eBay to find the core rulebook for Trad. It's a collectors dream.

I have the first expansion pack, Batcaver/Deathrocker. It came free with my copy of Trad Goth, and I only paid $100 for it.

Has anyone got a spare copy of the "With Colour" set? I lost most of the books for that, only got Red and Green to go with the original Trad Black colour advice.

Are you kidding? Even I haven't been able to get the Batty Friends expansion pack.
Though I do know a guy who was around when it launched, did some beta testing.. I could see if he's got any old stuff...
