I'm trying to find Sid Sings but it proves harder to track down than I thought. But I have to find a bassist first. Or my band isn't going anywhere. Damn stupid Chris.

The Killers do a very respectful version of joy Division's
Shadowplay on their (11/07) current all cover /B list "Sawdust" album.

My vote is Johnny Cash's great cover of NIN's Hurt.

There are many that are filler but plenty that are excellent.
Manson's "Tainted Love" is really good.

Examples of crap are The Three ultra bimboo's cover of Twisted Sisters "We're Not going to Take it" and currently tied for worse cover is
Lacuna Coils "Enjoy the Silence".
COF doing Heaven 17's "Temptation".

Dancing in the Street - David Bowie and Mick Jagger

And I do like Apoptygma Berzerk's covers of "Enjoy the Silence" and "Bizarre Love Triangle."

Siouxsie & The Banshee's cover of Iggy Pop's "The Passenger" rocks pretty hard.

I have to agree on the both of those. The Killers cover of Shadowplay may be my favorite cover period. It seems to me that Brandon Flowers just feels the song almost as strongly as Ian Curtis did.

We all know Johnny Cash felt the pain of Hurt.

Quite a lot of excellent cover come to mind, and here my personal favourites.

Fields of The Nephilm - In The Year 2525
Gamma Ray - It's a Sin
Nosferatu - Starman
Sinergy - The Number of The Beast
Iron Maiden - That Girl
Opera IX - Bela Lugusi's Dead (this version is great but I prefer the original)
Novembre - Cloudbusting
To/Die/For - In The Heat of The Night
Type O Negative - Summer Breeze
Bauhaus - Ziggy Stardusr
Ozzy - All the Young Dudes
Susperia - The Sun Always Shines on TV
Sisters of Mercy - Emma

Strangers by Jim Morison.

Johnny Hollow covered that song and I found it pretty amazing.

I thought Bauhaus' version of Ziggy Stardust was boring. Not that it wasn't good it was just so similar that I didn't really care for it any more or less than the original.
