Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

the Chameleons (UK)
Alright, time for a thread on one of THE bands of all time, in my book. The band is carried by the childish, Robert Smith-esque vocals of Mark Burgess and accompanied by his poetic, dreamy lyrics, while the reverbed twin guitar harmonies add another level of depth and dimension to the music. And with such hits as "Swamp Thing" and "Don't Fall", how can you go wrong? Though I suppose my personal favorites would be "Tears" and "Monkeyland". I highly recommend checking out their debut album "Script of the Bridge" and then "Strange Times" though I haven't given a fair listen to the in-betweener "What Does Anything Mean? Basically" yet. Either way, I highly recommend this band to EVERYONE. It's just amazing. Discuss!

I haven't heard enough of them to make a decent assessment. But Don't Fall is such a wonderful, beautiful song. It has kept me going a few times as days pass by.

I'm glad someone else appreciates them. They're only one of my favorite bands of all time. I think "Perfume Garden" might be a wedding song to me, and I'm sure "Tears" will be.

They are my favorite band in the whole world. It is the music that I adore, the composition, it’s brilliant. Big tragedy though, Strange times was actually stolen from me about three months ago.
