Oh god, I feel horrible...
My friend and I like the same guy, and he just asked me out today. I said yes, but now my friend seems kind of upset, and I just feel...awful. I like him, and I'm so tired of being single and bitter, but I feel bad for my friend now...I can't ever seem to find anyone that I actually like and who likes me without there being some horrible thing that goes along with it.

Try talking to your friend, hopefully she will be happy for you instead of being bitter about it. I'm sure soon enough she will find someone else to crush on.
On the other hand make sure that you do go out of your way to spend a lot of time with her so that she doesn't feel as though you stabbed her in the back.

Forget, also make sure you know which is more important beforehand. If you're going to have to make a decision between the two, you better be prepared with a quick answer when the time comes.

Thanks, I talked to her about it and I don't know if she's upset or what... Guess we'll just kind of see what happens.

Don't let people come between you and your best friend. You might fuck, and you might date, but I've found that having a friend is much, much more worth the it than the fact that you might be dealing with someone that will cause heart-ache in the end.
Just hope it'd be mutual between you two, though.

Time for one of my world famous rants. G.Net wouldn't be home without them.
I hate my college. Why? Because they're a bunch of bumbling idiots who don't understand basic fucking English.
I have a well documented case of migraines. They've been tormenting my life since I was 12 or 13, and I have doctor's note, prescriptions, and a history with my high school about them.
However, I don't let them run my life, and I haven't tried to get my P.E. requirements waived. So, that means I had to take a lovely jogging class.
Half-way through the course I have to drop my jogging class because I just can't take it anymore. The additional exercise gave me near constant migraines, and I just couldn't take it anymore.
So, I drop the class.
Now, here is what I was told when I first asked about dropping the class:
"We will get you a medical waiver that will take the class off your transcript, and leave you with no bad marks."
GREAT! YIPPIE! The system actually works for once! I was flabbergasted. "Could this bloated example of mediocrity actually work me?", I wondered to myself.
Well. No. Two days later that same statement became, "We'll get you an add/drop class form that will take that transcript off your form, and leave you with no bad marks."
Well. Fine. I didn't want to have a record with dropping classes at the college, but I can deal with it. So, I pick up the add/drop class form, and I'm off to sign it. Five signatures later (Yes, you need five signatures to drop a class), and I'm ready to drop the class.
When I get there, I hand the administrations office the form, ready to get on with my day. What does he say to me? "Here you go. The class has been dropped, and you'll have a W on your transcript. Otherwise you'll be held harmless."
"WTF?", I ask. They have changed their stories three times, and now they're leaving a "Withdrawal" that I have to explain away to my prospective four year university. Fuck! Oh well, I can deal with it.
Now, my school has a policy of "Probation". Basically, if you drop a class, they lock out your records and you can't register for classes for the following quarter until you get them to unlock it, by meeting with a counselor. This is to make sure that dropping classes won't be a habit.
I specifically asked the guy at the counter, "Will this put me on probation?". It was clear as fucking day. I wasn't asking him it in fucking Spanish, Chinese, or French. I didn't use double negatives, I didn't mumble my words. What does he say? "No. You won't be put on probation".
Well, glad we have that settled, right? Fuck no! The next quarter, I get a lovely letter from the college saying that my records have been flagged, I'm on probation, and I can't register for classes for next year.
Lovely.
I contacted the office that handles these issues. I asked them what the fuck was going on, and they said, "Unfortunately, that's our policy. Too bad, so sad, don't give a flying fuck". I basically called them liars, and using my wonderful skill of bullshitting, managed to get them to listen to me.
So, I write an e-mail explaining my situation to the head of the department. I ask her a very specific, clear question. "Can I get the probation removed from my records, given the reasons for me dropping the class?".
What does she reply with? "Here's our policy on disabilities to get marks removed from your transcripts". I don't care about my fucking transcript! I just want to register for motherfucking classes!
I have to go in there tomorrow, and I mean physically go to the office (Which is on the other side of campus from my classes) to get this mess sorted out, and they still won't change their story.
Fuck my college with a rusty spoon.

I'm so sorry that your college sucks so hard, I hope you get things worked out. The only think that I can tell you is not to worry about having a W, most universities wont even bat an eye at that (at the most they will ask you about it if you go in for an interview so you can just tell them what happened and they will go "oh okay").

It's not really a rant, but I do feel it needs to be "voiced" for the sake of keeping it from becoming agitating.
Yesterday I stop by my parent's house to say hi and see how they've been. While eating a small plate of dinner with them, my dad takes the opportunity to mention that I'm getting fat. He then goes on to say that I've been getting fatter since I've had a boyfriend (since January) and that this is NOT a good way to keep a boyfriend.
Then when I tell him that yes- I know I've gained weight since I've had a boyfriend, he interjects telling me that now I'm getting angry with him. Not once did I raise my voice or get excited. I let him finish talking and then began to speak my peace. I finally got to finish speaking and told him that if my boyfriend wants to dump me because I'm getting too fat- then that's just fine. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I also pointed out that I have been minding what I eat and eating much less and increased my activity level. Of course he fails to hear what I just said and says "but it all takes time." To which I reply, "Yes. And anything undertaken starts at some point which I just told you I've started." After my dad spent 5 more minutes vehemently trying to prove that I'm angry with him, I put my plate away and left. I didn't want to encourage him to go on by my remaining in the house.
I'm well aware of the direction my weight has been going and am taking steps to take it in the other direction. But of course- healthy weight loss takes time. This isn't the first time he's talked sh*t like that, but this is the first time he's sunk so low as to pull out lines like "getting fat is not the best way to keep a boyfriend." As if I'm planning for a long term relationship anyway.
I'm not angry with him. I moved beyond getting mad at him ages ago. I am, however displeased with his immature conduct and wonder why on earth he would make such an asshole move. If I wanted to be barraged with comments about my weight, I'd go to my local rich bitch community and ask them what they thought about my body.
What do you all think of my dad's conduct?

If I never get hit on by another woman again it'll be too soon.
I was hit on and stalked by the same drunken woman all weekend, and then groped by another! They both said, basically, the same thing, "you should be older," or "I wish you were older."

My dad's called me fat before, I ended the conversation with "you don't look too hot yourself" and walking away.
I'm chubby, I know this.
It's not my fault that we had to move and I had to leave all my activities behind, and that they refuse to find me a new place to practice martial arts. But, band camp is coming up soon, I'll drop three sizes. =)

So two of the girls that are to be my roommates have decided that the place we were planning on moving into is in too sketchy of a neighborhood. Fine, that is a valid reason for not wanting to move somewhere, the problem is that we were supposed to be moving in next Monday (thank god we haven't signed a lease yet so we at least have the option of going somewhere else). The real problem is that I am out of my apartment on the 31st, everyone else is out June 15th so I am feeling just a little bit more pressure to find a place than anyone else. Today we found one place that is about the same price in a nicer area (but a good bit farther away from school) but th place itself is not nearly as big (at least 150 square feet less) and has smallish rooms with negligible closet space and I will be sharing a room with Jake, that and the place is currently being renovated (should be done at the end of the month) and we are not sure what exactly is bing done, and there is no way that I would enjoy living there without a good bit of change. Grrrr it took forever to pick a place and now that place is out of the question. Back when we ALL decided on this place there were other options but most of them were farther away (but closer then this potential place) and they were nice but everyone wanted to get pay as little rent as they could (and omg you get what you pay for, Jake and I both said that over a month ago). I was so frustrated earlier that I was on the phone with my mother crying, if I had a month before I had to be out of my apartment then it would suck but not really be a problem but I have less than two weeks.
The worst part is that the apartment isn't even in a bad area, I even went to the police to ask them for a safety report, but no the girls went through and saw some "sketchy people" and one of them heard some bad things from a random person moving out of the complex (even though I know about a dozen people that live there who have never had a problem she has decided to take the word of someone who could have been kicked out). Fuck I am so sick of this crap

Sorry to hear it Solumina. Maybe since you will be roommates anyway you could stay with one of them for the two weeks?

The plan is that I will stay with Jake, only I have to store most of my stuff as it will not fit in their places as they don't have a ton of space and I have a few large items. Thankfully Jakes parents have said that I can sick some of my stuff at their place as they are only 30min away and have a good deal of storage at the moment because all of their patio furniture that they usually store in their barn is outside for the season so they don't need that space (I am soooo very grateful that they are in the area and have been able to help out)

Man, good luck. Sounds similar to what my boyfriend's sister has to do. They're moving into my boyfriend's parent's old house, while the parents move out to the new one. They have about a month to do the whole switcharoo, but their retarded step mother is saying things like "Well, we'll try to be out, but we have to work at a pace that is good for us" Us meaning her. Casey (my boyfriend) and his dad are already packing, but it seems like she'll do one box, and then think she's done and go watch movies (I know that doesn't sound retarded on its own, but this woman is a complete dunce, among other things...)
It makes me so spitting mad because I just know that she's going to end up taking forever to move, and Kristi will end up having to pay another month's rent and piss off the landlord because that retarded woman will get "too stressed" or something else, because she has all the time in the world while Kristi is stuck at her apartment completely ready to go and paying for her step-mom being a slow !&$#@%#$$!!!!!!!!!!
Again, doesn't seem so extreme to someone else I guess, but its the cherry to top off the shit sundae this woman has made. Its the same lady who will say things like "Well, I said so at dinner, but you were busy talking about something, so I didn't say anything"(WTF!) and then think it excuses her for everything

Wow! People like that need to be deprived of botox til they get the job done!
Ah, springtime in California. The hills go gold in preparation for going up in flames, and the promise if taking a few firefighters with them. School teachers construct the hardest finals they can without making brain matter leak from the ears of their students. Goths and mundanes alike bemoan the harsh sun and the weather starts pmsing. And mother nature prepares to demonstrate why the beach boys must have been on SOMETHING when they were describing this place.
At least it makes for nice bonfires in the old bunkers by SF, that is until the wind picks up or the coast guard thinks someone's about to jump. We call it "Viewing Darwin in Action."

I have never been madder, I guess it's mostly trivial things, but they add up:
One guy from school told me to "grow up, it's about time" yesterday. Wanna know why? Because I was saying some girl from school wants me to do a painting for her (she said she would pay) and that I thought that seemed like a lot of pressure. This kid also was nitpicking my clothing (and that I draw my eyebrow "too close together"). As a 26 year old "man", who gives a shit about that? Also, he will insult me and then hit on me
Another friend of mine continues to have me pay for his coffee. On my birthday he said "Hey, Kerri, as a birthday present will you pay for my coffee and I'll pay you back?". Later that day, he bought a DVD. I am always paying for him (especially when we dated). He finally has a job (at the tender age of 20) supposedly, and I don't see why he can't scrounge up a $1.75. It's great, he will get his coffee first, and then ask to "borrow" money, hilarious. BTW, I discussed this with him, and the other day..guess who didn't have cash for coffee?
Another friend of mine is just completely inconsiderate, and acts like I'm wrong when I call him out on it.
Also, I was going to sell cds, and it turns out my mother threw away ALL of my cd cases. She apologized and all, but how could anyone be that dumb?
I have applied to 8 jobs, and nobody has called me back, which brings me back to..wtf? why am I pretty much the only one who pays for friends coffees and gives gas money?
I hung out with a friend of mine, he kissed me and said "oh, I hope to see you soon, I'll call you!". No call, nothing...this was a week ago or more.

Job searching is sucky, I can empathize.
An update on the housing situation: the girls have decided that there really aren't any other viable options (nothing else would be open soon enough for them to not have to move out of there places first, even though they saw no problem with me having to do the same grrrr) and so we are going to stick with the original place, I'm calling tomorrow to see when they would like us to come in to sign the lease.
Hopefully being in that kind of bind made them see what they threw me into and they will be more considerate of my position in the future, keep in mind that combined they make less than I do and would essentially need to find a roommate with a full time job or two roommates who don't mind sharing a room to qualify for any apartments in the area as the two of them combined make less then I do and most places don't allow for cosigners so they really need us a good deal more than we need them. I'm really starting to wish that we had gone with some roommates that actually understand how the world functions and understand that you cannot make serious decisions on a whim and then change them just as quickly. If you ant to be impulsive that is fine, but don't let it fuck things up for me.
Oh well at least I have a place to live now.

Ha, ya right?
I applied at Hot Topic (go ahead, laugh your ass off). They aren't looking at apps for awhile, but I'm buddies with the manager. If they don't hire me, I may go back to Superfresh and beg.
In the meantime, I'm having a garage sale and selling all my wonderful shit.
I've become so desperate that I was considering working as a phone sex talker lady, but that's kinda icky.

Yah, apparently I'm "too young" to be considered for anything except fast food and secretorial work.
