“Hmph!” L'Oiseau Noir flipped her hair, “Some people…”

Upon flipping her hair, some of it got in Mir’s face, and he choked, lost his balance, slipped, and fell, bringing Bella with him. She fell on his only remaining leg, and he whimpered in pain. Through Bella’s consistent apologies, Duck’s ears perked up. From another part of the castle, he heard Mir’s squeal and could recognize it anywhere. Duck started to jump up, but then he heard other voices.

“Damn it, Bella…” he mumbled to himself, “She attracted attention…”

“Whining because your plan is foiled?” came a voice. It was Jillian’s. Duck whirled around and gasped, “YOU!”

“HA HA HA!” Jillian gave an evil laugh, “You think I’d let you get away, you FOOL?!”

“You have no proof! NO proof, I tell you!”

“Don’t try to hide it now… I have you trapped… All I have to do is get the public to turn against you… starting with Bella Sophia…”

Duck’s eyes grew wide, “Why her?! What makes her so special?!”

“Oh, I already know that you have Mir up to your little tricks,” Jillian shrugged, “I thought that Bella may have had something to do with this…”

“She knows nothing!”

“Oh… we’ll see how much she knows, Duckman…”

“Damn you!”

Jillian cracked a devious smile, “I may not have tangible proof… but I’ll catch you in the act…”

“Not if I kill you first.”

“You? Kill me? Ha!” Jillian turned to walk away, “Now go be a good little boy and get yourself mentally prepared for your execution.”

“Little boy? I’m older than you!”

“… That is true…”

“…”

“Damn it, I can’t come up with a comeback…”

“Awww, you’re getting soft on me, Jillian. You’re not the godslayer you once were…”

Jillian just clenched his fists and walked away. Duckman could do nothing but allow a grin on his face. He knew exactly how he was going to win this battle.

You keep changing Mir's gender. First he was a boy, then you revised that portion to make him a girl, and now he's a boy again? Ahhhh.

Jillian then proceeded to his throne room to draw up more documents. The rules of the Clan were:

1. Every member shall do his/her share.
2. Every member shall treat all others with respect.
3. No member shall cheat, steal, or kill.
4. All members are equal.

He changed the rules to:

1. Every member must work at least 30 extra minutes to aid the Leader.
2. Every member shall treat all others with respect.
3. No member shall cheat, steal from or kill the Leader.
4. The Leader is more equal than all the others.
5. Murder without a reasonable cause will result in execution.

He called all members to the common hall, announcing the new rules. Before people could shout, he knew just how to manipulate them.

“Comrades!” He exclaimed, “Anyone who opposes this idea will be exiled! Now, I know some of you may think that you could survive alone, but we’re in the middle of nowhere. Where do you think you’d go? You’d all end up like Mir here!” He pointed at Mir, and everyone turned. Mir jumped up – with the help of Bella – and pointed a finger at Jillian saying, “Fuck you, Jillian!”

“Isn’t ruler number two the one that says to treat everyone with respect?” Jillian said calmly, “You’re disrespecting me, Mir. Let that be a warning to you.”

Mir wanted to say something else, but he decided that it would be his better judgment to keep is mouth shut… for now. Jillian smiled triumphantly.

Duane raised his hand, “Can we ask questions, though?”

“Why not?”

“Why must we work 30 extra minutes?”

“Why, you all are the source behind my strength! If you guys were weak, I wouldn’t survive, and neither would you. Therefore, by working harder, you are helping yourselves!”

“That’s fucking bull…” Duck murmured under his breath.

Jillian’s head snapped in Duck’s direction, “Something to say Duck?”

“Nothing… nothing at all…”

So how is it coming along Bella? Your challenge to write a novel in one week? I think a novel is considered to be at least 50,000 words.

I have only written 10 chapters so far, 5,907 words. I estimate that by the time I finish the next three or four chapters I will have 10,000 words, but that would not even be a quarter of the way to novel length but only half the time left to write it in.

If i didn't have to work this week I may have pulled off a novel, but I am not going to make it.

How about you?

to HumanPain: Well, I was actually suppose to start this coming Sunday. I was just getting out my idea to the people of gnet... but then people were saying that I wasn't posting reading material... so I started writing it. However, to be fair, on Sunday, I'll look over all that I have wriiten and revise, starting from scratch.

I may just change the plot completely. *nods*

Duck sneaked away from the gathering just under Jillian's nose, grabbing and Mir and Bella with him. Once they were safely out of the common room, he said in a harsh whisper, "Alright now do you see what he's trying to do to us?!"

"What are you talking about?" Bella grinned, "He made the rules better."

"Better? BETTER?!" Duck exclaimed.

"Duckiiiiie," Mir chimed in, "Calm down, will you?" He hugged him tightly, "You know, you're what I missed most after leaving the Clan."

"Mir..." Duck grumbled.

"I mean, I only have one leg, but-"

"Mir...!"

"You don't have to worry, though! Once all this is over, I won't make you pay!"

"Mir! For god's sake, would you-?!"

"And then-!"

"MIR! Willl you listen to me?"

Mir blinked, "Oh... you're serious."

"Damn right I'm serious! What the hell do you think this was, a joke?! I'm trying to save your ass!"

"Or get us executed," Bella mumbled.

"And you, Miss Bella," Duck pointed at her, "You have to stop being so god damned sloppy. Do you have any idea what Jillian's going to do at the masque now??"

"... No."

"Neither do I! That's why we have to act fast!" Duck exclaimed, "We might need another person..."

Just then, that's when Apathinne Childe came in, playing his blusey harmonica. (sorry, I had to change the name since I learned that Apathy's_Child is a guy...) An evil grin spread across Duckman's face. Bella and Mir exchanged worries looks.

"Apathinne, my dear lad!" Duck began.

Apathinne stopped dead in his tracks.

"I want to talk to you..."
