Okay so is it just me, or is this a load of pathetic bullshit. I mean only a fucking idiot... no a group of idiots, could come up with this bullshit.

I mean sure they mean well with their intentions, however the way those fools are going about this is ridiculous, and is probably one of the worst thought out loads of shit that I have ever heard in my life. A fucking 2 year old could make better decisions than this.

Sorry about the cursing, but I swear alot... >_>

Anywho later everyone

" “I’m not a psychiatrist, but when we see all black, we know what comes next,” he said. "

Gray?

(from fading in a washing machine)

It's stories like these that make me so grateful that I go to such a liberal, understanding school. (Not even joking).

We read articles in class once a week, and somebody brought in one about a 'Goth' kid that nobody here would consider Goth. He shot up a school, and everybody was all 'OMZG GOTHZ? KILLEM B4 THEY KILLZ US!!!!'. It was pathetic. I was particullarly 'Goth'd up' that day, and I got mean looks. People kept asking me 'Do you worship the devil?', 'Are you going to shoot us all?'. Once, I started crying and had to leave to get settled down in the bathroom, and when I came back, some kid said 'I thought you were gonna shoot us all up'.

Pathetic.

Granted, it -does- seem a bit ridiculous, but stories like this also remind me of how glad I am to not be in high school any more. XD

It also shows how easily people are misled from the truth and how over reactions without proper investigation can lead to abusive policies.

To say that kids dressed in black cause *any* issue is just daft. To ignore all the rules of psychology and sociology and arrive at the conclusion the colour of ones shirt leads one to commit an act of any sort is something straight out of the middle-ages.

To allow such ideas to propagate to the point schools and or other districts or localities enact rules to combat a color, in efforts to stop violence, is even more daft - and shows how ignorant people are and how others with an agenda are more than happy to exploit this ignorance for their own benefit.

This sort of thing isn't just limited to this one school district - we saw on a state level they tried this a couple years back and we still see it happening at a Federal government level as well.

The whole anti-Arab craze that swept America is the same thing on a larger scale. Ignoring facts and using peoples ignorance and fear in efforts to forward your own agenda - that seems to be the norm in many places - in America and other nations now as well.

No one should be surprised when it happens at a local level, considering the same thing is happening at all levels of government in many countries these days.

Actually, didn't the article say that it was okay for kids to wear black as long as there wasn't anything 'Goth' about it?

That having been said...I agree that it is a stupid policy, and am pretty sure it won't go anywhere. :/

If that school is so concerned about the way kids dress, then why don't they just order uniforms for everyone? That's what the school systems in my neck of the woods finally had to do because of all the gang violence that's going on. [And that having been said, if this school is having a lot of trouble with gangs and such...as in, people actually getting hurt because of gang colors or what-have-you...then I can more than understand the school's position, even if I don't feel that they are going about solving it in the right way..]

On the other hand, if these kids think that the only way they can be 'Goth' is by dressing up in full Goth garb at school, then I'd have to say they have a bit of maturity to acquire. :/ Honestly, I think school should be about education, and not about who can wear what where, but that's just my opinion..

same sorta thing happened in the 90s with Dr martens, my group of friends all wore Doc's, the cops asked us multiple times if we were a gang, we denied it. I pointed out that i was wearing Gripfast boots, not Dr martens and they didnt see the humour, during one inquisition

(or something along those lines)

You have no idea How many times I have thought that. I would never shoot up my school but If in some alternate universe i went nuts. I would wear I yellow sun dress pink flip flops, bows in my hair and quite possably decorate my firearm with hellp kittie sticker.

I was just thinking the same thing. If I was to ever do ANYTHING wrong I would dress totally different and see what they label me as. XD

A girl dressed in a gorilla outfit on a crazy rampage through town.
She stole 3 bottles of cider from a local off licance, robbed 5 old ladies handbags and an umbrella then cruised the mall on a scooter shouting out obscene words to people she went past.
She was later tracked down found sitting in a field drinking cider singing old Irish songs and holding the umbrella above her head.
We warn people that they shouldn't wear gorilla outfits, they cause you to act like animals....drunken animals!

Wow.. They think that stopping kids from wearing black will put an end to Goth? Yes, to ease the withdrawal symptoms we'll all go listen to pop and buy the latest tabloids.

And as for the teachers going up and asking the kids if they're goth.. People ask me all the time if I'm goth, and I say no because of what people think goth is these days. *Points at article* That proves my point.

*Runs in dressed as a jock, and turns on a tv, to the local news*....WTF!!! Misunderstood Jock mistakenly sticks up a bank, and accidently runs off with 10 million dollars.... THIS AFTERNOON HE'LL RECEIVE A KEY TO THE CITY??!?!?!! Damn it... mah plan failed.

Goth won't be stopped by one lone high school telling kids they can wear black, but not be goth...

Edwards explained that schools in the Brenham school district have a long standing practice not allowing some students to wear clothing that identifies them as part of a group. This practice not only applies to groups such as gangs, but also to groups like goths.
Funny, I bet they still have uniforms for their sports players, and they are required to wear them during game days...isn't that breaking their rules then? It IS identifying them as part of a group.

*rolls eyes*

f*ing morons.

One has to understand that this is Bible-thumpin' small town Texas we're talkin' about. That town's biggest claim to fame here in the Lone Star State is the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory there. One of their tv commercials features enough hometown, conservative imagery (with Biblical chaser) to make you want to puke red-white-&-blue.

Still, everytime I see the fuzzy-image, down-home commercial I chuckle and ask "so...where's all the black folks in that town?"
Given the type of graffitti I read in the truckstop bathrooms whenever I travel thru the area, goths are exactly at the top of their "enemies" list.

My boss really doesn't care, as long as it follows the "No tank tops & T-shirts" rule! I've worn my black & fushia skirt more times than I can count.

Since when does color black dictates goth label? I think it's ironic because I thought that being goth isn't just about wearing all black clothing. Anyone can wear all black and not be a goth. New Yorkers usually wear black but some of them are not goth. These people need to do educated study further to make such ridiculous assumptions. Let children wear whatever they want and I feel that they should have a psychological detector of some kind to crack down the killer or suicidal kids, not the ones who happen to wear black and chains.

And they probably call themselves not racist? Well screw them, that isn't true. Racism is basically when you are against a certain race of person, but if you go deeper, goth fashion is a defining way of living that says who you are, technically similar to an actual race. They are stereotypical jerks obviously, lots of goths I know don't cut at all. Anyone can cut and you don't have to be goth to do it. Preps cut too.
