need help quick, as in RIGHT NOW

I'm leaving for tonsil surgery in an hour or so and they will make me take out my septum piercing. I don't have a retainer but I don't want the hole to close while they operate, plus I'll be loopy for a few hours after I wake up and most likely won't put it back in. I need a quick way to stop the hole from closing for a few hours.
I have only had this piercing for a few months, maybe, so there is a good chance it will be gone by the time I wake up.
Can I use a small piece of tooth pick? ugh....

A plastic sterile/sterilised toothepick could work.

Well, I have an idea for you but I'm not sure at all if it works the same as it does on ear piercings.. A fishing string! But septum piercings are bigger than that eh?
