Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

New CXS Lineup!!!

Yep, now there's 7 members to the band!

Anyway, I expect to see AMAZING shows from these guys. The more I listen to this band, the more I realize that it's more Rogue's vision than it is the band's as a whole. Their sound seems to be going in a rather predictable, yet nice direction. You'd think there'd be a big difference in the sound with the newest members and all, but nope. The sound seems to be going more and more dancey and synthy as each album progresses. Not bad, but I was kinda hoping you would actually be able to hear the other members influence on the sound.

Yeah i found out this morning.
I can't wait til the cd comes out!

I too noticed the sound changing to more dancy and synthy.
I hope it's better than Dreamcypher though. That one definitely wasn't their best, in my opinion.

I LOVED Dreamcypher. A lot of the lyrics hit close to home for me.

Well i mean the songs were all just long and repetitive.
It got boring for me after a while.

I read somewhere that the song Defender was inspired by Terry Schaivo

I liked Dreamcypher much more that most of the other Cruxshadows albums I own. It felt way more like an Album and less like a collection of songs than oh say, Ethernaut (which I also enjoyed).

Also, Rogue didn't have three or four different versions of the same song on Dreamcypher. That was nice.

I'm getting increasingly sick of Cruxshadows.
I used to really like them, but I find a slavish devotion to them wherever I turn and the music's really not that unique or fascinating. Heck, just listen to the Last Dance for an example. CXS live shows are always the same, and Rogue always loses his voice three songs in, which further puts me off. Scripted audience interaction kills the spontanaeity, it's just a gimmick rather than a genuine love of the audience.
If the new line up can make a difference, I welcome it. I would like to hear CXS and enjoy them again instead of just hearing the same tired things repeated over and over again. I used to like them. It would be good to be able to enjoy them again.
