So, I'm trying to lose a bit of weight, because I have a BMI of 24.1, which is just touching the limit of slightly overweight, and I don't want that to get worse.

So here's the thing...since most of my extra junk seems to be in the stomach/under belly button area, I figured crunches were a good idea.
My sister said that I'll get muscle, but it won't take the fat away, which will make it look even bigger. Is that true?

I'm D and Eing too, crunches are a really good idea. I'm also substituting all my junky meals with slimfast (they are very filling too). Whenever I get a job I'll save up for a stationary bike. I also am going to stop eating at 9pm and get up motivation to go bike riding in the evening.

So I've heard.

I carry my worst fat there also. I've also been told that it's a difficult area to tone because it's lower . When you crunch, it's mostly mid and upper abs that get toned. I've eaten a lot less than usual today. I've been very good. But the fact remains I'm 238 lbs

For my height I should be roughly 120

PS--be careful with Slimfast, it's like 3297397347983 calories. You might be better off substituting junk food with fresh vegetables or fruit.

Egg white omelets are tasty and very filling.
Plus--protein eliminates water weight like a champ.

My sister was talking about that the other day, I can't remember what conclusion she came to though. I'm pretty sure it would do some benefit.

I should probably crack out my exercise DVDs again. I don't weigh myself, but I'm looking a little more tubby and feeling a bit unhealthy.

Normal chocolate has something it that's effectively a dog poison, so you can buy chocolate that's made specifically for dogs, tasting similar but without whatever that harmful ingredient is.

Really? There's always stories about people feeding their dogs or cats chocolate and then their pet dies. I guess you either don't feed them much of it or you have some biologically enhanced super-dogs.

My dogs have gotten into chocolate on their own before, and they didn't even seem sick, let alone die.

There is a chemical in chocolate that makes some dogs very ill but others are just fine (specialty breads seem to have the most trouble, mutts seem to have the least). We used to have a dog that loved chocolate cake (if we were eating steak he would stick to his dog food but if there was chocolate cake on the table he would jump up to try and get it, strange pup), anyway the only time that chocolate made him sick was one Halloween when he got into the Halloween chocolate that my parents were passing out and he ate every last piece, left all the wrappers though, but I think that was just the sheer amount of junk that he ate.

Also someone was asking about the effectiveness of crunches on the lower abs, crunches mainly work the upper abs so if you want to tone up the lower abs then leg lifts are a better choice (and personally I think they are more comfortable to do). If you do tone the muscles there then that shouldn't add any bulk and muscle mass burns more calories than fatty tissue and so simply having that muscle mass will make it easier for you to drop weight but some sort of cardio is still going to be the best way to slim down.

It's definitely the specialty breeds that have the dietary problems amongst dogs. My friend's family always owns pure-bred boxers, and they can ONLY eat their special food. Anything else and they end up at the vet with major stomach problems that usually result in surgery.

My proper 'wolf dogs' as I like to call them, mutts as far from pedigree as you can get, can eat whatever the fuck they want and they're fine. One of them even managed to have a plastic bag pass all the way through her without a problem. Chili, onions, chocolate... all the things that are supposedly unkind to canine digestive systems, my dogs can feast upon. Just shows how damaging dog breeding can be. I prefer larger and more varied gene pools for my pets.
