I lost respect for Manson after Ditta Von Tesse. I was never a fan honestly, but I thought he was a good artist, & did a very good cover of "Sweet Dreams"

Getting married on Halloween is a kitschy goth thing to do, but entirely valid if a kitschy goth mood is gone for. Having a mass goth wedding conducted by Manson on Halloween.... gneeeee.

Meh. I listen to Marilyn Manson every now and then, I quite like some stuff from "Holy Wood" and "Antichrist Superstar," but goth he is not. I don't doubt that he knows a bit about the subculture, but any tiny shred of Goth that he had in him he's lost lately. And I lost a lot of respect for him after Dita Von Teese. IMO having him conduct a wedding, on Halloween, in Transylvania, kind of makes a joke out of goth (in Transylvania on Halloween, without Manson, could be kind of cool and kitschy), and somewhat out of marriage (but things like this have been done for Guinness before.)

What I find funny is how the above two posters actually give credence to the idea that Manson was goth in the first place. Even at some kind of iota-like level.
Manson is more synonymous with Alice Cooper than Peter Murphy. Or I can just be dismissive and say you guys were entirely right and Manson was goth the entire time up until he started fucking Dita. You know, cause goth is entirely what you make it. *rolls eyes*

What? First fucking sentence of my post "...but goth he is NOT." Seriously.....wtf? I said he might have had a tiny shred of it starting out, as in fashion-wise (not much music wise) he took a bit of goth influence, not even that he completely was, if that's what you're referring too.

The part of the Dita Von Teese thing that hit me the wrong way was how he treated her, the drinking, and how that made them split up and her file for divorce. Not the fact they got together in the first place.
He's a shock rocker, folks, with a penchant for the macbre. that's it. oh yeah, with lots of Depeche Mode remakes. :P
*edit - on a another note, why the fuck did this devolve into the Manson/Goth debate? haven't we had this here numerous times over the years? Why again?!
