If it makes you feel any better, Cogsy, I failed the Mathematics portion of the HPSA test. It's basically the same sort of test you took, but dumbed down for us slow New Jersey kids. Now I'm probably going to have to take a slew of help classes, as well as visit my cousin, Dawn, who's a teacher at Sylvan and a math goddess, over my summer break.

And I've only got two chances left. If I fail it in October, then I have to retake it in March; and if I fail it in March, I fail highschool and have to do over the twelfth grade.

I'm just not a numbers person.

What is the point of all this?
The people who came up with this requirement didn't even have to take this kind of a test in order to graduate.
As far as I know, they only had to get their credits and then they could graduate.

We've got TAKS in Texas. Which this is the first year I didn't get 'commended' or whatever it is in all of the subjects. They said my writing was partially suffiecient when I'm getting 90s on near college-level essays, which annoyed me greatly.

I'm going into my junior year this year though, and while I can take trig and calculus, I've got the three math credits I need to graduate, and that is exactly what I'm graduating with.

I basically have to have 4 math credits in order to graduate without passing the WASL.

Tea and Cake or Death: I thought it was part of Bush's "no child left behind" but then I found out TAKS was replacing the older TAAS test but I think it might just be Texas that already had a test like this. I don't know about the other states tests.

Yeah. I think it was the "No Child Left Behind Act".
