In Jersey there is the emo/punk scene with bands like My Chemical Romance and some other stuff. It's all very dull. No fun at all.

Here, the metal is growing again after a silence of almost 4 years. Romania is probabaly the last country in Europe you ever think about doom gothic music, but I saw last WE Paradise Lost for the 2nd time in my life and hopefully they will come back again. Kreator, Metallica, Anathema, Dream Theatre and other "monsters" were here. In february we will have the chance to see Lake of Tears performing here. Some of our bands are great but they suffer from stupid sound engineers that used to mix other styles. People are starting to understand that metal scene is not just a sickness of society and prolly in a few years our bands will be known by other country, I hope mine will be one of them .

I haven't touched a radio in a number of years... and I avoid going to shows, so I'm thoroughly ignorant of the entire music scene.

I live in a small town filled with rednecks and convicts, so there's plenty of horrendous music played at most of the local bars, best you would find is a bar that played top 40 crap. And unless everyone in the city dies of plague or something I don't forsee a positive change.

There are some good local bands around here, but they don't get the recognition they deserve since most of the people around here are r'n'b lovers who think good music is music that you can dance on.*rolls eyes in disgust*

It's weird, but I can't really dance to dance music. I find it much harder than other kinds - just not my speed.

Me too, plus being drunk just gives me courage. I feel like I can take on the world when I'm drunk.

Hehe, I always become convinced I'm the best dancer EVER when drunk. There's a club near me that has two podiums with poles on them! If there's footage of what we do to those poles when inebriated, I don't EVER wanna see it... Ignorance is bliss. *gives vacant, blissful smile*

Exactly! I don't think I'd ever dance again. Or at LEAST not until next time I get drunk...

The scene here is pretty bad right now, but it allways gets better durring summer when we can start playing illeagal shows at the parks. Our scene is built on punk and hardcore. I'm in the punk, because my band is punk . I really hope there's a revolution of some sort.

Hmmm, well, lets just say, the parks won't let us play on their property. And the cops allways show up near the end. Wich, i actually have fun watching them try to chase down my friends. No one ever gets caught unless they are drunk or so stoned they can't run.

San Francisco Gothic-Industrial scene:
1996: Strong, vibrant, nationally-known.
Bands: Switchblade Symphony, Malign, Faith & The Muse.
2006: Dead, fewer club nights besides "Death Guild", almost nonexistent.

Bands: Black Ice, Swanndanger, drop black sky.
[and they're not even from San Francisco]
Final analysis: The scene is already dead [to me, that is].

Over here there is virtually no gothic scene.
It's all reggaeton and pop music in Juarez, and every music style EXCEPT gothic in El Paso.
Of course there are many people that consider themselves goths, but they do nothing but worship Hot Topic and Marilyn Manson (I like the reverend, but he's not god) and the nearest thing to gothic in Mexico is something called "darketo" which is just preppy kids dressing in black hating everyone in the world, and having music similar to Greenday

Just one club in my town where goths and such can hang out. Sometimes there are concert from local bands(they are actually quite good) or some bands from other countries come to play. For example in one month Dark Funeral is coming! Yaaay!!

GODSLAYER JILLIAN: "Darketo" sounds like this sketchy-ass mixture of Nihilism, Southern California Pop-Punk/MTV "Punk" & Emo. Must be horrible. Hella schwag. Don't think something like this would ever catch on here in the U.$. but then again, schwag shit have become big-time trends before. Remember "Grunge"? No? How about Disco? New Wave?
