Ffxi

Wow. surprised to see that there is no Final Fantasy XI thread in here, unless i did not scroll back far enough. Anyway, just wondering if any of you actually play this ? I've been on FFXI for some years now and am still totally in love with the game. If so, post what your job/craft levels are and possibly anything insightful you can say about the game for other's who do not play. I personally prefer FFXI over any other MMORPG.

I'm someone who doesn't play. So I want to say this.

As someone coming in, I have no clue what FFXI is. I thought FFX was the multiplayer version, and FFXI was the new ones coming out! I mean, FFIV is FFII, but FFII isn't the same thing as FFIV, FFVI is FFIII, but FFIII isn't FFVI, and FFXIII isn't actually one game, it's three! Then there's FFXI which isn't actually the sequel to FFX, FFX2 is the sequel to FFX!

It's an incredibly sadistic numbering system.

I don't like the idea of FFXI. It doesn't have the good story lines that the Final Fantasy has put into its games since the sixth one. It's just another MMORPG.
I don't like linear games, but that's what was so cool about FFXII while still having a storyline where you're a protagonist rather than a participant.

What makes it a bad MMORPG?

Grinding is usually frowned upon. If there's too much of it, the game will get stale right away.

Basically 90 percent of your time you sit around waiting to get a group. Because you can't solo anything. Then you spend 10 hours with that group and you will be lucky to get 1 percent of your level. In other words its just a massive grid fest that serves the elitist MMORPG players who thinks if you don't play 24 hours your a lesser human.
As much as I am happy to not be playing Wow..at least you could level to maximum and still have a life at the same time.
Although I like the fact it has cut scenes.

Haha. This kind of makes me laugh. Have you EVER played this game before, or just read the small explanation of the game on the back of the casing ? First off, if you have played, then I am glad you do not anymore. First reason for this, if you spent 90 percent of your time waiting for a group, then you were not attempting to craft or make gil (which is currency within the game for people who do not know.) This is a huge part of the game. Furthermore, if you didn't do this, then you must of had terrible gear, which alternately, also would make you a terrible player. Oh yea, also, groups, or parties as they are called, come quite often. Secondly, in 10 hours, with a good party, or group, one should be able to get at least 10 levels. One level per hour is quite the norm. Even with a bad group, you would get close to this, I promise. And lastly, solo leveling in this game is quite easy to do. About half of the jobs you can choose for your character are based around soloing, they are called pet jobs. Granted pet jobs are advanced, so im guessing you never got THAT far into the game, which is fairly easy to do with even just a slight amount of time put in -.- . Please, do not inform people with wrong information just because you feel the subject is not in your interests. You obviously have not put a decent amount of time, or in my opinion, any time at all into this game to post such negativity on the matter. For those of you out there that may actually be interested in this MMORPG, give it a try, or look it up online, you may find yourself a great recreational hobby! Thankyou.

China rang, it wants it's wall back.
I'm glad you picked up my Exaggeration, Too bad MMORPG's still suck. Your insults to me mean little. Why would I bother paying and spending time in a game that's a hunk of trash early levels and most likely late game as well. According to you one should eat trash for a year before they can say it didn't taste nice.
Dam this is why I dislike the dam MMORPG crowd..dam EQ.
INB4 the Rage.

Maple Story, now there's an example of the hideous land of grinding.

I don't really play MMOs anymore, since I find most of them to be too restrictive with how you can play classes. Hopefully the Gaia battle system is somewhat enjoyable for a small time.

Admittedly I always wanted to give FFXI a go
