Nuclear Winter
No warning is given, lucky to be in my shelter
A flash of blinding light would turn it all to glass
Heat would sink and linger for a moment
With the slightest touch scorching atomic levels
I'm really not so lucky. I have to rebuild my world
And I can't get out of my shelter.
I'm hungry.
I'm alone.
I'm thirsty.
If I were to open the door, the very air would melt me
I can't leave and I must, I want and need to exit
But fallout lingers for a lifetime it seems
How long must I stay here, starving?
Blaming myself for not letting myself die when I should have.
I need out. I NEED OUT!
So how do I want to die?
Starved and too weak to move?
Or not so quick, but surely painful
But still quicker.
I'm so hungry...
Why couldn't I simply dissolve in the blast?
So... the question remains.
How do I want to die?
