Essential punk CDs.

Before anyone says that I should go to a punk forum, I've checked them all out, and the fucking suck.

I am trying to get a list of punk CDs for my fiance, she is interested in learning more about punk, though she already likes the Clash. This is not perfect but it's a start. She also thinks the Ramones are poppy and not real punk. She's already one step ahead of Ramones fans on the punk heirarchy ^_^

I intend on giving her copies of:

The Best of the Adicts
The Best of the Clash
Fuck the System by the Exploited
Nevermind the Bollocks by the Sex Pistols
Leather, Bristles, Studs, and Acne by Charged G.B.H.
Under Attack by the Casualties
No Control by Bad Religion
England Belongs to Me by Cock Sparrer
The Feeding of 5000 by Crass
Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing by Discharge
Give Me Convenience, or Give me Death by the Dead Kennedys
Sing Loud, Sing Proud by the Dropkick Murphys

Is there anything I have grievously overlooked?

Got to have the first DEAD KENNEDYS and the first VIBRATORS albums. I also think the first MEAT PUPPETS album is a classic.

Black Flag is good, Butthole Surfers is good but not really punk. NOFX, Circle Jerks and Pennywise are just utter shit. Minor Threat is ok, but I hate straight edge with a passion.

Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables is an absolute must-have, Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols is a good history lesson, something by Bad Brains, whoever said the Circle Jerks suck is wrong, get some of that. Black Flag, Bad Religion, Minor Threat, GBH, TSOL, The Oppressed, The Casualties, 'New Noise' by Refused is an awesome album.

FEAR. FEAR definitely need a mention, possibly the best of US Punk. Amazing band. Gorilla Biscuits, Social Distortion, Suicidal Tendencies, The Buzzcocks, The Dead Boys.

Subhumans and Rudimentary Peni are like Anarcho-Punk bands, they come after the basics.

Hmm I'd have said subhumans were more essential than Pennywise.

I didn't say Pennywise, that's a pretty lame name-drop.

The Velvet Underground are not punk. They're boring. The misfits absolutely fucking suck more than the entire line of hoover vacuum. As I mentioned in my first post, fuck the RAMONES. They're POP PUNK. THEY SING POP SONGS WITH PUNK BEATS.

Iggy pop was influential but fuck all boring.
I have Wild in the Streets by Circle Jerks on Vinyl. My list was only to collect a starting sampler for her. Whatever she shows interest in I'll get more of.

Oh JCC have you listened to In God We Trust, INC? I have it on Vinyl, it's amazing.

Buzzcocks are pop- punk and probably the best pop punk band to ever live. Social Distortion is not bad and Suicidal Tendencies are amazing.

NOFX sucks! They're a worse example of punk than The Ramones.
If you want a basic list, then Rudimentary Peni is indeed 'secondary' but I would still mention The Subhumans.
But I would also mention Choking Victim/Leftover Crack, and Operation Ivy, because even though they're not as popular as other bands, they are essential because of their styles and lyrics.

Alright, I have to say this.
These are not by far famous bands like The Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys, but they're crucial to the direction punk goes, which is more than just style:
Attila the Stockbroker
Aus-Rotten
Oi Polloi
Against All Authority

Well, I tried to get a mix and throw some real emotive hardcore in there. I don't really care for real emotive hardcore, but it's so much more respectable than the shit people think emo is today.
