Go for it, and it'll never be too late, depending on what fields you go into. What sort of fields were you planning on studying?

More importantly, let me know where you will be spending your internship. And your practice, when you are licensed. For obvious reasons.

I've done some ruminating, and I think JCC is right about my bedside manner. I decided to relieve my existential crisis with some sex, and mentioned the 'doctor' contingency to my partner in said activity, who helped me to realize that the best medical practitioners are those who enter the profession with the aim of helping people, not with that of being unequivocally, scientifically right and laughing at those who aren't, even when the latter group includes the relatives of recently deceased.
Can anyone help me out here? My career as a playwright is going well, but if I should hit a snag on my way to fame, I'm pretty much doomed to poverty. Having a back-up plan would be ill, but I'm a physically frail, spiritually dead, and emotionally retarded misanthrope. Any good double major suggestions to round out your favorite gnetter's skill set?

Physics with an emphasis on optics! So you can invent the Jedi light saber and retire wealthy in a big castle and pay me as a consultant in living large.

If Dr House was anything to go by you'd make a great doctor...
But really, the best doctors don't go into it for helping people, that's for nurses and social workers. At interviews for medicine programs they look for someone with the passion for medical sciences above all else. If you have it, great. If you don't, fuck it. It's one of those things that's pretty much impossible to study without a ridiculously keen interest in it.
As for a lucrative career path I hear the money's in genetics at the moment. Most sciences except for zoology can keep you above the poverty line, really, and they don't require physical strength or interaction with humans for the most part.

I hear there is money to be made with a degree in a second language as well, depending on the language.

Which languages in particular?
My Application for Victoria University is, at last, in its final stages for being approved.

Well here in particular, French, Chinese, Punjabi, Hindi, Arabic and German. I don't know if there's a demand for them in the states, though.

In the US there is a really big demand for Mandarin and Arabic translators at the moment, even if you don't go into either of those any additional language skills will enable you to command a larger salary than those without, no matter what field you work in.

Did you have a bad experience? The only supermarket sushi I have ever had was Whole Foods and that was made fresh for people coming in for lunch (they have a little lunch buffet kind of thing) so not quite the same thing.

I've realised a rather startling fact about my friends.
None of them are white, or more specifically, Kiwi-White.
My boys are all Maori or Samoan.
My close friends are all from different countries (Dubai, Germany, Thailand, HK etc)
I think I can only name 2 or 3 people who are my own age and culturally similar that I can call friends. The rest are all acquantances or collegues.

Don't you just hate it when bands don't play near you, and you want to see them really bad??
