the ten commandments of goth (done properly)

ok there are 11,bite me.

1: thou shalt dress however the fuck thou wants to ,regardless of what others think or say.

2: if thou cantst not stand thine friends playing/talking about maralyn manson, thou shalt get some earplugs. For thou doest not have the right to dictate what thine friends listen to, no matter how bad it is.

3: thou canst still listen to bad music but thou should at least know the difference between bad and good music.

4: thou shalt be nice to baby bats, for everyone was a wannabe once..

5: thou shalt not steal thines mothers/sisters/bestfriend's eyeliner!thou shalt get off thine arse and buy your own.

6: thou shalt not take thineself to seriously.

7: thou shalt be creative and have pride in what thou acheives, even if it is not as good as what someone else does.

8: thou shalt not drop thine non goth friends when thouest joins the legions of the spooky people.

9: thou shalt not scare the mundane's for kicks, save it for halloween.

10: thou shalt learn to spell (and pronounce) siouxsie right!

11: thou shalt think for thines self.

now hear me out before you start flaming me for "redoing a crap thread". i think constanza's thread was a really good idea idea, she just failed to pull it off well,so im going to have a go myself.

add you own commandments if you want.

Doesn't number six cancel out all the others?

Now I'm confused. If you don't follow the first one, then you're not being yourself, and like we'd say, you're trying too hard.
But if you take the commandment too seriously and are yourself, then you're taking yourself too seriously and are trying too hard.

My point is that the commandments ought to at least be funny, but these ones look like it's exactly what someone ought to do, which is again taking itself too seriously.

You shouldn't make a shitty thread about some commandments that are completely irrelevant to the fundamental element of Goth, as in, liking Goth music, and then fail to use Early Modern English as some sort of validation for said stupidity.

I was always under the impression that Siouxsie was pronounced Susy, like as in Susan, but replace an with ee

I was pretty sure it was pronounced "See-ou-zie" or something very similar to that. Think of it as the Sioux native americans, the X is silent.

Siouxsie is pronounced 'Susy'. As with the Native American tribe, "Sioux" is said as 'sue'.

Very amusing, but I think bands with names that simple people can't pronounce should have a pronunciation key in the back of the book, just as a courtesy. (after thought) you may be detracting from the original thread which was good by the way.

Yeah, it's quite hilarious and sarcastic to say:
"thou shalt dress however the fuck thou wants to ,regardless of what others think or say."
": thou canst still listen to bad music but thou should at least know the difference between bad and good music."
"thou shalt be nice to baby bats, for everyone was a wannabe once.."
" thou shalt be creative and have pride in what thou acheives, even if it is not as good as what someone else does."
"thou shalt think for thines self."

This thread wasn't obviously to be a joke. It was obscenely serious but wanted to save itself by saying "after you do this to be a good person, don't take yourself so serious!"
If this thread's a joke, are we supposed to:
- Dress like everyone else
- Not care about music
- Be elitist
- Be consumerists
- Be mindless?

no that's not what i meant... Like, who doesn't know that it's so wrong to:
- Dress like everyone else
- Not care about music
- Be elitist
- Be consumerists
- Be mindless?
=p it's just that the so called "commandments" aren't that serious
