Wasn't even directed at you personally, but kudos for realizing, that YES!, everything I stem from my deep seated hatred for you and Tam Li Hua.
Oh yeah, tell L'oiseau Noir I said hello.

Exactly. I don't understand why.

And Duane, chill out.
It was amusing at first, but it's just annoying now.

The series was mediocre. But why get all bent out of shape about it? The world is full of crap literature, get over it. After reading the Twilight series I can see why people would love it.
It was like taking a bad Anne Rice book (they do exist) and smashing in a bad romance novel with a dash of werewolf, and what do you get… Twilight. It’s the perfect recipe for teen angst and adults that never grew out of it. Just like Harry Potter.
That’s right. I hate Harry Potter and Twilight is in the same category.
You know what I do to help eliminate bad literature from my mind? Get another book.

Unfortunately, I am reading Breaking Dawn out of morbid curiosity (and I did read the others, please flog me). It's nauseating by the second chapter, and my daughter tells me it only gets worse.
After this one, I need to read something good. Preferably something in the first person, since I'm studying comparisons in writing styles between first person and third person books. Are the Meredith Gentry books by Laurell K. Hamilton worth reading?

Amen and amen.
I'm a die-hard Muse fan, and have a [permanent] crush on Matt Bellamy. My best friend and I went to their concert in L. A., and I totally fell in love with them even more than I already was.
That's why I feel so passionate about this; Muse is a wonderful band, and I hate to see them brought down in any way by something as cheesy as Twilight. :/
For the record, I also hated that Muse was somehow put together with MCR for similar reasons. [I laughed bitterly when I found out that almost all of MCR's crew was poisoned in a little diner in New England during the Muse/MCR American tour. MUSE WAS OPENING FOR MCR!!! How does something that stupid happen?! Muse should open for themselves, and no one else!]
/end passionate, fangirlish rant.

Before, Ophelia said something that you only implied. But then in your defense you actually explicitly proved Ophelia inferred correctly.
You both have said that it bothers you that Stephanie Meyers likes Muse so much she uses them.
Ophelia asked why it bothers you.
What's the problem here?

Now I'm considering putting my fake nails back on, so I can bitchfight you for Matthew! WHAT song are they using in the movie? Please tell me it's not a Muse song.
They opened for MCR?! My world just turned upside down. Muse should have all these silly American "goth" bands clamoring to open for THEM.

Kristin: I know! My friend and I were outraged when we found out about it. :/ I think there's something about that tour on the official website, but it was almost a year ago, so it may take some digging to find.
Heh heh. And, even though I'm practically engaged to the love of my life, I'll bring it for my little Matty! XD XD XD
Oh, and here is an article about the Muse/Twilight thing.
[I'm crazy with the links, yo! XD]

Tam, I am really looking forward to checking out those links! Tomorrow though, because right now I should be dressing for work instead of messing around here.
I'm beginning to like my decision to come back to this site, after a self-imposed absence. I plan on replying to your other thread about crappy people too, when next I'm on the forums.
*leaves for work, where she plans during the dead hours to plot the ways in which to keep Matthew Bellamy within her possession and away from Tam Li*

And on that note, I really should go to bed; it's 11:49 PM here. :P

Anyone who reads the books and posts here saying something to the effect of "UGH I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M READING THIS ATROCIOUS INSULT TO LITERATURE, I AM PHYSICALLY PAINED BY IT" is a sack of shit. Admit you enjoy it, because no person voluntarily reads books he or she doesn't enjoy. I have more respect for Crying Crimson Tasteless and Graveyard.Illiterate than I do for you assholes, who support this twisted anti-intellectual enterprise while attempting in vain to maintain a facade of refinement.

No. Ophelia asked:

And I told her that it doesn't.
Nor did I put any words that designated that they were not 'cool' or less 'good' because of Stephanie's silly book.
Tam might have a different opinion (as for Tam, your words canbe taken either way, though you probably don't mean it the way Ophelia thinks)
The insult probably wasn't needed, and for that I apologize, but it seems to me as if Ophelia is just seizing an opportunity to tell both me and Tam we're idiots.

Well Gothicus, you have to at least read a book to give it a proper judgment. I read the first one, half of the second one and I was like "This is crap.." My friends at school can't get to me shut up about that fact either. (I read it last year, maybe two years ago?)
But I'm sure there are some people on here that secretly enjoy it and think that it's so great.

Alright then. We can say that's what she said, as she did. Nevertheless, the fact that Ophelia and I wonder why it bothers you that Stephanie Meyers likes Muse is still standing. I read that question into her first post, but she still mentioned it explicitly later. So why is it?

I can almost grasp why one might feel compelled to finish a single horrible book after beginning to read it. However, what motivated you to purchase the second installment in the series is utterly beyond me.
I have properly assessed Stephanie Meyer's writing ability. I flipped to a random page of 'Eclipse', read the phrase "she gestured to her gloriously immortal body", and promptly deduced the novel to be an abomination.

Who said I bought it?
I got the first from the Library and just stopped for a year.
Then my teacher said I should read the second one. I told her I didn't like Twilight and she demanded that I try the second one. I told her I didn't like it and we had a 15 minute argument before school during her hallway duty about it.
I bring it up every time I see her as a joke.
And yeah. I haven't read Eclipse, but I'm not going there.
No matter how much fan fiction my friends write >_>

If she wants to like it, she can, it just bums me a bit that it's being used in this movie.
Muse has been my favorite band for at least 4 years now. I've managed to fully understand (in my opinion), the meaning of nearly every single song. There's a few I have yet to grasp (and I refuse to look the meaning up), but I'm working on it as I get a bit older. My point, their music is great, the lyrics are meaningful and when you take something meaningful and fuse it with something meaningless, it almost makes a mockery of the actual message.
Then, don't forget the masses of people who are going to see this. They'll be all "Muse!!!!" in about five seconds. Once more, mockery.

I read Twilight because a friend I love and respect recommended it, and said they could really identify with Bella. [Yes, this person was an adult.]
And once I start a book, I feel like I have to finish it, even if it's -really- painful.
After reading Twilight, I haven't picked up any of the rest of the books, and would probably get annoyed at folks who haven't at least tried to read it but were still highly critical of it.
It's like an atheist who hates the Bible, but has never read any of it for himself and thus has no real idea what it says. :/

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I insulted you.
Because I didn't.
The stupid thing about this is that not only did I not insult you, I didn't even mention your name.
YOU tried to turn this into something it's not.
