Short hair
So, I got my hair chopped off yesterday, and its been years since I had short hair, I forgot how hard it can be to manage. My hair is thick and wavy, and after I dried my hair it was sticking up everywhere, especially in the back where its the shortest. So I tackled it with my straightening iron, and it did most of the work, though it took a lot longer than it should have, and its threatening to stick out again already. Problem is, hair spray seems to hurt my hair, and I don't know any brand or type of gel that doesn't leave it feeling (and looking) greasy....any tips?

assuming you don't want it spiky/crazy/messy...
There's a spray I use to take frizz down, but if I use too much, it makes my hair greasy. Just a touch might help you. Tresemme anti-frizz stuff. Blow dry on cold maybe?

How short exactly is your hair? Is the back a 'boy cut' or is it just short? mine goes off the shoulder and past the jaw in the back, above the jaw in the front. I have straight hair but, it's very thick. I like mine to flip/ spike out on the sides which makes it even shorter. To get a good 2'' flip I use a curler (or straightener) and just use it on the ends and pull the curler in and pull out. Do you get it? I can't thick of any other way to explain. As for hair products, I NEVER use any gel. or hair spray. Try a nice mouse. If you straighten/ curl everyday use a heat-use one. It'll say 'heat activated' on the bottle. If not, go for a regular mouse I use Suave Rave styling mouse. Make sure it is light weight. And, only use it on your ends. I hope this helps!!

I also like to use mouse, seems to give more hold than gels and creams but still doesn't make it stiff like hairspray can. Also an anit frizz serum may be a good idea.

My hair is roughly chin length. Thanks, I'll go buy a bottle of mousse tomorrow ^_^
EDIT: Have you ever heard of sugar water acting as a hair spray? Never tried it yet, but someone suggested that to me the other day o.O

Never tried sugar water but I would imagine that it would be kind of sticky

I have to say that I can completely relate to your situation, and that sugar water as hairspray sounds terrible. You should definitely get a hair gel called "Vital Vitamin Cream". It works wonders on all types of hair(but most suitable for frizzy hair) and from my experience it works the best on short hair like yours.
Hope it helps.

bleach it, spike it, color it, do what ever the hell you want to it. That is the one think I miss about when my hair was cropped to about an inch. Short hair can be trimmed and have the new hair grow back faster.
