Child stare

Do any of you notice how much kids stare at you?
Well,ok I don't honestly know if they stare at you,but they have always stared at me.I think it's great that they're so curious,but at the same time they get really shy and whatnot when they realize you notice them staring at you.
For instance,like a week ago I was walkin' through wal-mart and this little girl was in the cart next to her parents,who were going through the bargain DVD bin,and she kept lookin' at me and everytime looked over I'd flash her a smile and she'd turn red and look away,and try to get her parent's attention.
I think it's great and I hope they all end up goth.
That same day some parents all but picked up their kids and ran away from me,you'd think I had the friggin plague or something.

Everybody stare at me . Kids, old people, teachers ... even my own parents . But I hate when kids stare at me, I hate kids in general, but staring kids .. oh god they make me wanna kill them ... and I hate their comments while walking by, like: "mummy, death, vampire, murderer.." yeah I've been called like that ... Gee...

So much is happening behind the scenes: when a child is staring, their brains are wiring up the experience at the rate of approximately 100,000 sensations per second. They are comparing your appearance to past experiences looking for a match, and simultaneously and subconsciously checking race memory for prewired "hits" against the species archive. If any of these "hits" raises the red flag, they clutch mom's leg or start crying. If on the other hand, there is no match, then your smile is all they have to go on and they will not find you threatening, but instead will then go to the next step and acknowledge the smile, i.e. will initialize the social "handshaking" interface.

It is generally the older folks who will overlook the smile and instead get stuck on the clothing and appearance. Their brains have crystallized.

Children stare at me regardless of what I am wearing. One of the many things I detest about them.

Children stare at me alot , I don't really mind. But sometimes children can be incredibly annoying creatures...

Hahaha yeah, but sometimes they stare so much, it gets a bit unnerving after a while. They don't stare at anyone else I know but me. Sometimes it's cute, sometimes it's just annoying.

Contrasting colors and unusual things do tend to catch children's attention, yeah. I get some kids staring at me--I'm pretty pasty, so my darkly colored wardrobe stands out all the more. Once they get the general picture of, "Oh, weird lady over there," they start noticing the details (stompy, buckled boots, skull shirt, skull and wing earrings, assorted crystal necklaces, black lace skirts, et cetera). Luckily, my attraction to all things campy and Halloween chic makes me seem less threatening, so I don't get many kids crying or trying to run away. A scene like that is the last thing I need. =D

I almost completely hate all children. However, some can be lovely.
The ones that stare at me and make nasty comments are little second and first grade girls. They can be the nastiest little things. On Friday I went to the park with some of my friends and they have these spinning disk contraptions we were going round on. And these little girls were looking for one to play on. One suggested getting on the disk where I was but the other replied with "No. I don`t want to sit on there with that scary girl."
But on the other end my best friends little cousin Lila loves me. She draws me pictures and will then have my fried give them to me. When I was trying to talk to her half-brother David(Who Im also quite good pals with) when they were down visiting she kept interrupting to talk to me.
But now I`m rambling on with my examples. But some little girls are so mean really.
They made me actually cry once.

I notice but I don't mind, if they are babies I usually make faces and they laugh, little kids I'll give a smile. I remember once I was in a pet store and wearing a long pretty skirt, and this little girl came up and tugged at it to feel the fabric. I didn't even notice but her dad freaked out and dragged her away, and apologized.

Once, I was in a hot tub at a hotel and this little girl came walking towards me but her dad grabbed her and freaking ran away.
Another time I was sitting at a bus stop and this little girl in a car that was going by fairly slowly, stopped, with her finger in her nose, and stared at me with this scared-shitless look the whole time the car was passing. It was actually pretty fucking funny.

When children stare I tend to smile and wave at them, sometimes I'll speak to them. It's a small town, so that's not unusual. Most of the time the parents don't really care and appreciate the attention being given to the kid; especially in a grocery store. If it keeps the kid from grabbing crap of the shelves, I'd be thankful for some distraction as well. Other times the parents will just stare at you with this whole "Oh dear God, it talks." expression on their face. I usually don't know if I should be insulted or amused.

If the kid is 5- I usually smile/wave at it, but if it's especially snotty or older then I ignore it or sometimes make a weird face at it/it's parent until it leaves/gets dragged away.

I like to smile at kids too. They just curious and honestly, as cheesy as it sounds, they are just being innocent kids. Now when adults and teenagers stare at me like I have a crow coming out of my ear, I just stare back with a blank quiet stare.

I don't mind if a kid stares at me. I either won't react, just smile or say hi.
However I do get a lot of people (14-20 or so) who walk past with comments like "hey emo!" "<band's name on shirt> fucking sucks" or "goth cunt" and things of the such. I usually just tell them to fuck off or just ignore them.

I had a soccer mom go out of her way to obviously stop and stare at me at Target one day. Goddamn, I am not that interesting that you need to stare at me, I swear. I flipped her off on my way out of the door.

A couple of days ago I was in a toy store looking for a pack of pinochle cards (seriously why are they so freaking hard to find down here?) and a little girl came up to me and asked, in the sweetest voice imaginable, if I was wearing my Halloween costume early. She must have been about four so I crouched down to look her in the face and said "no sweetheart I dress up like this every day." About that time her mother finally spotted her and dragged her away, of course not before she gave me a look of complete disgust but hey whatever at least the little girl seemed to like my outfit.

The kids I can live with, their just curious. The parents however, I can't stand it when they get upset and annoyed with differance.

I've never really heard it put that way,but it makes alot of sense.I used to have kind of a prejudice against people like us,goths,punks,etc because of the way my parents viewed them but now I see how ignorant there were(are)
I regret the narrow mindedness,but I'm thankful for those who came before that didn't let dictate their way of life,'cause it paved the way for me to do it as well.
And Angel_Of_Darkness I know what you're talking about.Children have stared at me since I was....like 9 or 10,I was walking to the service center in Wal-Mart once and almost every child watched me till I was out of sight,I've had kids stop crying and stare at me when I walk by.It can be very unnerving.
