Hi, DementiaNocturne. The resource I use for the names of Angels and Archangels is A Dictionary of Angels: Including the Fallen Angels by Gustav Davidson (New York: The Free Press, 1967). "A work of remarkable scholarship, the fruit of some 15 years of research in Talmudic, gnostic, cabalistic, apocalyptic, patristic, and legendary texts, among works of art and the range of literature..." -- The Wall Street Journal
The name "Alister" is a variant of "Alistair," which in turn is an Anglicized spelling of the Scottish "Alasdair." This is a Gaelic form of "Alexander," a historically popular name in Scotland, having been the name of three medieval Scottish kings. The name "Alexander" is of Greek origin, meaning "defender of men."

I was wondering if you would give me a second name, based on the following letters. If it's too long, don't feel it's necessary to use every single letter. (Unless that breaks your anagram rules.) -grin-

Wynneth, I'll be happy to give you (or anyone else here) as many names as you like. Here you go:
tesoairhnrenaeabhwcren
=
Rhiannon Bree Seawatcher
Rhiannon: Celtic, meaning "great queen." In Welsh mythology, Rhiannon is the goddess of the moon.
Bree: Anglicized rendering of the Irish "Brígh," meaning "power."
As for not using every letter... Yah, that would break my rules. Sorry. It's an obsessive-compulsive thing.

Ah, one of my best friends in the world is very similar. She usually gets a single word stuck in her head and it won't leave until she can anagram it into something else. Which can be problematic, at times, as I'm sure you're aware. -smile-
Edit: I bet you're aces at the word jumbles. -grin-
How about one for my husband? These letters include his first, middle and last name.

Thanks for understanding. Yah, I'm like that. And with some other things, too.
I'll be back later to anagram your husband's scramble. And I'll be back later for you, too, Blackbird.

So many thanks!! =^_^= I plan to change my name within the next few months, and 'Alister' is one that particularly stuck on me. I'm uncertain as of yet what my last name will be...I just can't find anything that flows right and still has meaning. *sniffle*

DementiaNocturne, here's an anagrammatical possibility for a new name, incorporating your choice of "Alister" into it, from the statement: 'tis (it is) [your full name].
