for me its obsessive compulsion, I have to organize music that way. If music has a distinct sound that belongs to a genre, its organized into that genre. Anyone who takes Nymphetamine out of the black metal stack and puts it in with my goth cds will lose an arm!
Also its just annoying when people are really really wrong about it. How would you feel if someone labeled The Shining as a romantic comedy?

Cradle is my fav band and i can tell you that they ARE goth metal/extreme metal . there only album to be catagorized as black metal was The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. i cant even believe you called Nymphetamine black metal lmao

My bad, they are labelled extreme metal in wikipedia. But no way they are goth, the only thing is sometimes they drop the word "gothic" and have influences of gothic literature in some of their lyrics, but saying the word gothic, doesn't make them goth at all.

Extreme Metal isn't a genre, it's a blanket term for a number of genres, one of which is Black Metal.
Nymphetamine wasn't Black Metal, the important part however is that it was shit.

I don't have a weird ass view on music, I just know what goth music is and isn't. I don't see what Cradle has in common with Siouxsie, for one.
I have the Nymphetamine album and Lovecraft and Witch Hearts. I've heard Thornography and a lot of their early work but never bothered remembering the names.

if deathstars was just industrial theyed sound similar to slipknot before they went mainstream. CoF has more talent in one of Danis nuts than you. Extreme Metal IS a real genre. Its a sub genre like BM and DM. DSA isnt goth rock its goth metal. seriously look your shit up people.

No thanks, I'd like to keep my lunch down. Those bands are about as dark as a Disney movie. Take DSA for example. Judging by their band photos, I'd be afraid to run into these guys in a dark alley. But when I hear sugary, limp-wristed ballads like "Breathe For Me" and "And Ashes Will Fall", all that goes away in an instant. The same can be said for the rest of those boyband fashionistas.

No, for genres to mix they have to sound like the two genres combined. Cradle is not a combination of metal and goth, its not like The Cure meets Metallica. The sound is not goth at all, its all metal. And we can't say its gothic either since the music is fast paced and not gloomy.
