I was acctually thinking about this topic about four hours ago, odd how that all worked out. Anyways, I think that the fact that people still arn't over the coulor discrimination thing is childish, pointless, and plain out a pain in the ass for people who think that we're all people no matter what.

Not to mention the mentally handicapped.
It's her damn body and she doesn't have to give birth if she doesn't bloody want to. When it's inside of her, it's physically a part of her. The "self perception" argument from that other user was crap. The difference is that a fetus is a fetus. It's not a baby until it's out.
Also, giving birth is significantly more dangerous to the woman than getting an abortion. It's like forcing someone to get AIDs when they would prefer the cold.
Also, I deleted this post previously, thinking I posted it on the wrong thread.
I'd like to add that they illegalized abortion before. It failed. Miserably.

Are we past the threshold now where the racial factor cannot possibly sink Obama given the margins he has accrued and the radically stupid campaign McCain has run? Or is there still a chance that deep seated bigotry ... like Cylon sleeper cells ... may sink this thing yet? Have the sheer numbers of rational voters transended the threshold at this point?

I think so.

I'm more concerned about Obama being assassinated once he does become president more than anything at this point.

The Mickey Mouse Klub (EDIT: I love the way that gnet changed K K K)are already going around writing white power on signs, and people are shouting "terrorist" "kill him" and "he's an arab". And I think I heard about some guy getting bothered in a bar for wearing a pro-Obama tee.
It is getting kinda crazy.

Same here. I almost walked out on my boyfriends Dad today while I was over. We were watching the news, and he started screaming about how Obama is a terrorist and a *insert improper word for black person, since I'm sure it'd be bleeped out anyway*. There's nothing like the sound of stupid to increase the pain of a headache.

It's not all that he's black. He represents more black views than white people usually do. Plus, he's liberal. I haven't met many conservative blacks, myself (about one in eight). Plus, McCain holds many similarities to Bush.
On the 'warmongering Republicans' bit of the video, I'd like to bring up the last three (Reagan, Bush I, Bush II). Honestly, if you think Reagan's space-missile plan wasn't an epic expression of warmongering intentions, there's probably something wrong with you. Then, there's the Gulf War and the Iraq War. And, while Vietnam was a child of Kennedy and Johnson, Richard Nixon certainly didn't help anything.

Plus, maybe I'm crazy, but I think the whole "Forgive and Forget" policy on all those years of slavery is b.s, especially when the same whites will "Never Forget" 9/11.

9/11 + slavery... want to elaborate further?

It's common belief, but completely wrong that Republicans were responsible for slavery or keeping slavery. It was the dems. But no matter how much evidence is out there to the contrary, beliefs will never change. Remember the gop has been the minority for much of this countries history.

Oh, btw. Because of reagans policies he not only did away with carters horrible economic policies and follies, but won the cold war to boot. Oh yeah... obama wants to re-enlist the failed policies of carter and the wonderful seventies. Anyone want to take a guess on what home lending apr's were?

Gorbachev deserves a lot more credit than Reagan in ending the Cold War.

reagans policy of 'trickle down economics' is the EXACT same as bushs current policy. You really think the current policy is good? I mean, your basically arguing Americas current economic situation is good.

I would think even you would be intelligent enough to see America is not doing so good financially.

Actually, Reagan's economic policy was far more in depth than just "trickle down economics". Like a huge overhaul of the tax system imposed over nearly two decades before he was in office.

Plus, I didn't even speak of Bush's policies, so nice try on the whole bush linking thing.

We have every right to be afraid of failed policies someone like obama would want to resurrect. I'm all for redoing things and making them better, but for gods sake we already know what doesn't work.

Btw The largest stock market gain was under bush, and also one of the biggest drops.

But, this current crisis started under clinton.. YES! I said the C word!! OMG!!

http://banking.senate.gov/conf/
http://www.answers.com/topic/gramm-l...ey-act-of-1999

Both sides of the isle were responsible for this including McCain. Should bush have repealed this bill? Maybe, but hindsight is always 20/20

And you are in no way a position to question ones intelligence. I mean you can by all means, but it'll make you look stupid.

Now can we stay on point?

I didn't SAY the Republicans were responsible for slavery. And it wasn't the Democrats, either. Otherwise, the South would have to have been ENTIRELY Democratic (as well as a good portion of the North). Plus, Lincoln (by today's definition) was Liberal. It was relatively common practice to keep slaves up until that point.

Me too. Everyday it gets closer to the election the more nervous I get. I'm afraid of what might happen to him, but also what might happen here. There's a lot of bigoted people down here.

I now live in the south until 2011 (yay for me). Many of the guys I work with talk about politics a lot. The general consensus is that there's going to be riot if he wins or loses. And as many rabid frenzied bush haters there are, Bush didn't get shot did he? So I don't think obama has anything to worry about. Most of these fears are being driven by oversensitive people.

I don't think that's the best deduction. Many of the people who dislike bush are liberals anyway. And liberals tend to be less violent than Republicans and wouldn't shoot Bush, even if they talked about it. The people who dislike Obama, are racist or racist Republicans. I think a black democrat has a bigger chance of being shot at this particular time than a while republican who fucked up.

Not entirely true. For one thing, not all of the anti-Obama people are racist. For another, JFK was shot by a commie (not that I entirely believe the whole thing what with Jack Ruby and that).

Well I didn't mean that if you didn't like Obama that they are racist, I more meant to say that with Obama there's racism to take into account and those particular racist to be worried about are the ones who are also republican.

And as much as I dislike people discriminating against other races, don't downplay it. It exist and it's still a big issue.

Yes, because there's no such thing as a racist liberal democrat because they are such wonderful and pure beings. Also how many violent republican protests have you seen in the last 25 yrs?

Also, most of the movies portraying violent people doing violent things is Hollywood. And how many of those violent movies are made by reps?

Also, the most violent places in the us happen to be dem controlled.. Not many racist violent reps in that part of the world...

And how many of you are ignoring the fact that a HUGE number of blacks are voting for him just for his color... SHHHHH... that's not an issue becuase there's evil white people that happen to be racist reps running around going to be rioting.. Honestly how many riots in the last decade have been started by racist white reps?

Gawd people! Buy a vowel, a clue or SOMETHING!

"They're just voting for him because he's black" is bullshit. Even if it WERE true, you'd still have to consider that they weren't NOT voting for McCain simply for his being white. And when you say "people", you're only arguing with one person on this thread (as far as I know). I certainly didn't say "all Republicans are racist" (though most white Conservatives I personally know ARE). Then again, neither did the other.
