Up to 20,000 words, but having a reeeallly hard time coming up with anything more. I now understand why novelists use so much 'filler', i.e. descriptions and dead conversations. Anyway, still going though. HP, BTW, again, thanks for the op. This is the first time I have ever done this. Hope I survive it.

That's awesome Bella! I have sputtered after 29,000 words. No motivation, and worse, no time. Work has gobbled up all my days and nights lately.

Thank you
I really hope you make it though - I'm sure it'll be a great one. You see, college work should have consumed my nights, but I am slightly ashamed that I let this novel of mine take over my life. Haha.
Still, it's pretty good for a dingy ol' rough draft.

Dear HP, I can soo relate, but we are so lucky to have work. The security guards where I work remind me of that everytime I start to sag and flag.
Bella, Congrats. You get a gold star.

You know, for a second I thought Sir Helpmann may have been caught at being friendly. Then I looked at the avatar a second time...
Bella, that's excellent! Care to share the story name/plot/characters at all?

I'm definitely gonna give this a try. I'm afraid that it'll turn out really random and convoluted... oh well!!!

I know this might sound a little bit late, but I'm starting tonight.
This should help me a lot with my writing skills. Hopefully.

I fancy having a go. I haven't written much for ages. Particularly not fiction.

At 21070 words so far, I am not going to make it in the next 7 days. I thought I had 29,000 but the NaNo word counter said 21070. Well even with a week off for Thanksgiving vacation I won't make it but I don't care, it's my first NaNoWriMo so I am happy to just figure the damn thing out and practice for winning next year!

Oh deary deary me... Yeah, I tried and failed miserably. Everything seemed to just crash with NaNo this year. Exams, relocating, surgery... *sigh* I guess IŽll just try again next year.

Well folks. I tried. And I can relate to HP's dilemma. (How's that for a book title?) Job, work, work, job. Interestingly, even though there has been a slowdown at both jobs -- (I work as a medical editor on one and a medical typist on the other) the work backlogged and swamped us over the last month. So, I had to subit the novel today with the last seven chapters only partially finished. But, despite the obstacles, I still managed to write over 50 chapters, and I misseditbythatmuch. I have never written a novel before in my entire life. And I got e-mails of encouragement from no less writers than Piers Anthony and Chris Baty. WooHoo. Next year in NaNoWriMo folks. In 2009, obstacles notwithstanding, I'm goin' for the gold.

Thanks for the reminder Jaye! I swear this time I'll make a better attempt, I have an idea, it won't be a GOOD idea but I think I need the practice.

Someone should plagiarize the finish a sentence thread.

I'm going for it.
It'll just be trashy swords-and-sorcery fantasy immortal-with-vengeance-issues stuff, but may as well go for it. How hard can it be to write 50,000 words about an undying mercenary with a grudge against the guys who took her death away from her?
