Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Essential Deathrock!?
I'm looking to expand my deathrock arsenal.
What are some essential bands and artists that I should listen to and where could I get albums and songs?
I haven't heard a great deal of deathrock but what I have heard (Cinema Strange, Christian Death, Alien Sex Fiend, Sex Gang Children) I like. A lot.
Please help me, it's greatly appreciated.

'Essentials' aren't my strong point, but I can recommend the following for your tastes...
Of the older bands:
Ausgang
Virgin Prunes
13th Chime
1919
Mephisto Walz
UK Decay
Kommunity FK
Theatre of Hate
Death Cult
Jad Wio
Kitchen and the Plastic Spoons
Neva
Voodoo Church
Rubella Ballet
Siekiera
X-mal Deutschland
Of the newer bands:
Eat Your Makeup
Bloody Dead and Sexy
Black Ice
Scarlet's Remains
Las Gorgonas
Deadchovsky
Red Zebra
Miguel and the Living
Madre Del Vizio
Joy Disaster
Jacquy Bitch
The Vanishing
Deadfly Ensemble
Sixteens
Phantom Limbs
Cemetary GirlZ
Ok shit, that list ended up a lot longer than I intended. Oh well, you should be able to find most of that on Soulseek.

Thank you Cicero. You're just the person I was hoping to reply.
Soulseek is confusing...

You're most welcome.
How is Soulseek confusing you? My username is Cicero, so feel free to browse my files and download whatever you want.

Right click a user and click browse files. I assume there's a search or something for users as well as music, not been on ages.
I'm probably not going to think of anything Cicero hasn't, but Bloody Dead and Sexy, Eat Your Make-up, Virgin Prunes, Kitchen, Miguel and the Living Dead and Scarlet's Remains are all bands I'm listening to a lot lately so I'll recommend those too.
Actually also: The Last Days of Jesus, Rudimentary Peni, and Screams for Tina. And All Gone Dead, whatever genre they count as.

Thanks Raptor
I saw you on Deathrock.com, is there a band listing on there? (Would you know?)

No problem.
No I wouldn't know sorry. I've not been on there much, I got bored.
Ah Greensward Grey. That song is awesome. I took a video of it, and then managed to delete it

Indeed. 'Tis my favourite Cinema song.
It seems like a pretty cool board.

God damn you all for beating me to the good stuff.
BUT. You might like:
T.S.O.L ("Weathered Statues" EP and "Dance With Me" album)
Frank the Baptist
and as for
Rudimentary Peni, Cacophony is thier most deathrocky album.

Well I actually went there to see what the people that go to Dead and Buried are like, but then I meet some at a gig anyway. Seems a bit quiet there and too many memes.
And Haunted, how's No More Pain? I only got Death Church.

I still didn't get No More Pain. People have told me that it's not good. I still want to listen to see for myself, but I wouldn't just go buy it right away.
I'd recomend getting "The EPs of RP" if you have Death Church already.
