Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Shut the fuck up if you can't even spell your "insults" right. It's "Wiccans". The religion is Wicca. The word comes from Anglo-Saxon "wiccae", which means witch or wise one. And no, I'm not technically a Wiccan, I'm a skeptical Wiccan-- meaning that, while I hold with some of the philosophies of Wicca, I don't believe in all the spiritualism of it.
And I DO know about paganism. Which is why I actually know what the hell I'm talking about, and which gods and goddesses I was referencing in that last post, Underwater Ophelia. Can you get your head out of your ass for long enough to breathe? It seems you're suffering from asphyxiation, and losing brain cells by the millisecond.

I agree completely. Plus, have you ever seen any of their live videos? Sharon den Adel CANNOT dance. At all. She should stick to what she's good at-- singing.
Oh, and the song's "Mother Earth", not "Mother Nature". And "Angels", not "Angel".

Dude...we know. I knew more about Wicca when I was in my diapers than you do now. Shut your pie hole.

Yeah, because referencing random deities really proves a profound knowledge of paganism.

And NO, I wasn't referencing random deities. I picked ones to make specific points. If you can't pick up on that, then it's not even worth arguing with you about.

Of course I picked up on it.
I also picked up that you can type "music pagan gods" into google.

Because it only works if you say that Loki might be the singer of Chaotique?
You're hilarious.

I know. It's like the whole "vampyre" versus "vampire" thing. I was making fun of it. Gods... (the green man and the earth goddess to be specific)

Apparently not. And I didn't really expect him to know of it, because Chaotique isn't exactly a well-known band. They're a symphonic metal band in California, and even there they're pretty much an underground band. I only know them because one of my best friends is the violinist.

Yeah i like symphonic metal, it depends on my mood but i think its nice
Well i agree nightwish (was) a great band , when Tarja Turunen was the vocalist.
Tristania is cool but not symphonic lol
Sometimes Dimmu Borgir & Cradle Of Filth makes some symphonic waves in their songs and i think it is so great

I like a lot of those. Especially Nightwish. I met them, sans singer, at the Finland Embassy in September when they did their tour, and they gave me a signed tour book for my Birthday
Too bad they had to cancel shows. I love the new singer. Brings a great sound to the band. I love the old one also though, Phantom of the opera is one of my fav songs, but I also love Amaranth.
I'm laying in bed sick right now, just watching their videos =p

Tarja is a trained Opera singer, she has more range then Annette but Annette is also lovely trained and has a unique sound..
The band is so talneted, with Marco's voice that anything they do , they can adapt and make it wonderful.
The Island song brings me to tears sometimes.

Therion
Old (decent) Nightwish
New Dimmu Borgir
Graveworm
Einherjer

I know Tarja's trained classically-- but it was still a bit of a shock to find a video of her on Youtube, singing in an opera concert O_o
Oh, and "Amaranth" is one of the few songs I like with the new singer. I love the video, except for silly Annette's dance moves-- she should stick to singing, if you ask me :P

Wicca is to Paganism as Mormonism is to Christianity.
The whole religion was created by one man, to line his pocket book by selling books.

I disagree. With Mormonism, a bunch of people made a bunch of money. With Wicca, a bunch of people made a little money each.
Though in all honesty I find Wicca worth looking into. Even the most vile of charlatans can hold a golden key.

... I'll admit that I have a few problems with Wicca (which is why I consider myself a skeptic), but let me just point out that this thread has REALLY gotten off topic. Can we please talk about symphonic metal, like I created this thread to do, or declare the topic dead and move on with our lives? If you wanna hold a "Wicca is bullshit" discussion, please do it elsewhere. I can't believe I actually allowed myself to be pulled into this pointless argument, but I'll try to rectify that now..

To get back on topic, I don't even like Therion anymore. They seem to do the same old shit with every album. AC/DC syndrome.

That's really too bad.. I've heard that Therion's earlier music's pretty good.
