| Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I seriously will never understand people who join a forum and make their first post something completly random and expect people to actively interact with them in a positive manner.
Seriously. How would you feel if you were standing around, talking with your friends and then someone just walked up, joined the circle and loudly stated "I like the way Cheez-Wiz feels between my toes."
It's creepy. Go introduce yourself. Have some god damn respect, mate.

Don't lie. When you made this post, your post counter said "1". This means that your first post was this one. THEN you introduced yourself. That made your post count go up to "2". This last gem of a post gives us a grand total of "3"
What did you hope to accomplish by your lie? Now I don't like you. You try to decieve me, and the others on here. And if you're the type of person that listens to that band, I don't think I'll like them very much either.
So, why did you lie?

First, They are from Norway. Second, they are MELODIC Black Metal. I think that you have to learn then know what your talking about, yea Dimmu Borgir means "Dark Castle" in Icelandic but that doesn't mean anything.
Well, If i have some grammar errors Excuse me but spanish is my native language

In addition, if you read high enough to notice Anubissokar's post- on December 6th, which means really old in forum-time, did you not also see my post about how this thread is redundant?

I'm sorry but i just wanted to correct that

Dimmu Borgir are as much a disgrace to Black Metal as Cradle of Filth. They both put out a couple decent albums, and everything after that was shit targeted for the Hot Topic kiddies. Fucking sellouts.

Okay. Nobody knows what Dimmu Borgir really means. It cannot be translated correctly into English. The meaning changes from anglo to anglo language. In Norwegian it means one thing, in Icelandic it means something else. It can mean anything from "Dark Fortress" to "Foggy Foreboding Mountaintop Stronghold".
They are good, but they are not really black metal. Neither are they a disgrace to black metal though. They are also pretty hit or miss. Sometimes they make great albums and other times their albums are pretty forgettable. Most of their lacking comes from how they rely more on synth than guitar when it comes to their music. I do own all of their albums though and I am a fan. Seen them live a couple times.

They're decent. I saw them live back in October playing with Danzig. I went to see Danzig. Show was pretty good.

Is it really necessary to stress the MELODIC to his description?
You people are so petty, it cracks me up. I'll never understand why goths in general get so caught up with such ridiculous little details.
I am glad that I am not goth and only here to get joy out of observing the dorkiest dorks of society.

There's a huge difference between Melodic Black Metal, and Black Metal, so yea, it's pretty necessary, especially when the OP is supposedly a big fan of the band...
It'd be a little like labeling 2Pac as R&B instead of rap.

Graveworm are a better MELODIC black metal band.
Favourite songs by dimmu borgir:
Reptile.
Unorthodox Manifesto.
Blessings Upon The Throne Of Tyrany.
You guys do know, when transalated into Gaelic, Dimmu Borgir is Demon Burger right?

They're an alright intro band for someone just getting into Black Metal and it's variants, however concerning bands of a similar strain I much prefer Emperor's last album. "Prometeus: The Disciple of Fire and Demise"

I haven't heard Emperor's latest album, but I haven't liked any of his recent ones. Is the new one more like his old stuff or what?

what the FUCK?!
dimmu is not melodic black metal. HELL NO.
dear god, what is wrong with you?
And as far as black metal goes they are pretty lame, in my opinion. (there's only one good song i heard from them anyway. and then Shagrath did a song with Kamelot, and it's good only because of Kamelot.) and yes, unoriginal as fuck...and i'm pretty sure they're Norwegian.
a fabulous example of melodic black (sometimes) death metal would be shade empire's 'demonized'.

Yea, they're definitely melodic BM, whether you like it or not. Bad melodic BM no doubt, but they're still melodic BM.

Old Dimmu isn't bad but the new stuff would induce one to heartily puke, methinks.

Emperor broke up long ago so I think you're a bit confused.
Ihsahn now releases solo albums that are absolutely grand, but not black metal.
Dimmu Borgir is more Symphonic than melodic.

Ahhh, I see. You can tell I don't listen to much Emperor...
Symphonic Black or Death is really just Melodic Death/Black with Symphonic elements to it. At least that's my understanding. I don't listen to a lot of Symphonic anything though (except classical symphonies), so I could be wrong.
