I walk very swiftly in normal life. I ignore people even if they are close to my face but if someone were to touch me I would probably tell them to fuck off and keep walking. I could hold my own against one person but I probably wouldn't have a chance against multiple people. Unfortunately doing my job once a month means a lot of drunk stupid people are out on the streets. I have had people slamming the door of the club, screaming insults at me when I wouldn't let them in and throwing things at me.
I think its because I am female that their automatic reaction is not to hit me. When we had no security it was my job to get people to leave - if I were a man I am sure someone would have knocked me out by now.

Seriously? I dont know how different your laws are, but under UK law, no martial arts instructor is allowed to teach you something like that. If you are caught using anything you learn in class, in a fight, you lose your licence to fight in class or competition. And if you do not have a competition licence, you face a ban on training. Your training is meant to be used only in self defence and never to be considered as a means to kill.

I hear about people being attacked here all the time, but can't say I've been in a fight in over 11 years. Even that was because a situation got out of hand, and some bloke didnt like me throwing his girlfriend out of a party.

I rarely go out alone, and even rarer that I go out at night (obviously) and I never carry a weapon. I dont own any, want to or need to!! I just avoid people who look like they might start (groups of yobs who are drinking, junkies & chavs) if I do go out.

Get steel toe cap DM's. They look no different to ordinary ones, and can do some nasty damage to limbs if all else fails and you need to use your feet!

My first and second line of defense IS TO AVOID THEM. Did you not read that part or was the third part just too damn brutal that you forgot about the other two?

I did read that part but sometimes you cannot avoid things. So if you cannot avoid them - you can't do anything but kill them? You can't distract and escape? If they are intoxicated or high, they are most probably not the quickest to react sensibly to a situation.

I avoid walking alone, and when I am alone I trust my instincts and walk fast.

Never even come close to being attacked, but if I couldn't run away (and I'm an extremely fast runner) my main defense would probably be my steel toed boots and an aim for the genitals. I wouldn't carry a weapon for fear of it being used against me.

Hey, you want to be a violent dick, then you deserve violence in abundance. Don't be a stupid asshole and start violence with a total stranger and you'll better be able to avoid getting shot.

As for me, I'd commence to beating them to death. What do you think of those who lack any real mercy what so ever? What do you think of those that will just out right shoot you dead if you so much as even start getting violent with them?

The area I live in is generally safe. I walk places by myself a lot and have never been in a fight. Though if I was I would look for something to use as a weapon because I'm a weak skinny little prick, especially if I'm out numbered. And to those of you who say that using a weapon is dishonorable: Eat it. If you're being cornered on the street your assailant probably isn't looking for a decent and honorable fight. They're probably out for your money or to harm you just because they don't like how you look or both, maybe. And if thats the case then I believe I have the right to bash a skull with a rock or scald some eye balls with some hot 7-Eleven coffee.

yeah. I guess you're right. I would probably just sit down. I know I wouldn't be able to do much at all to defend myself unless it was one on one with some drunk douche bag.

My first line of defense would have to be simply how i look. i look as though i'm three seconds from snapping at any given moment. Even during my calmest state of mind. It also helps i'm a rather large fellow. It's a rare thing for something to go down in which i need to employ the second line of defense.

i'd rather fight with my bare fists. If the other person/s aren't going to play fair, then i'll have to cut them. i never leave home without a knife in each pocket. Usually that's about six.

never bring a knife to a gunfight

If i ever come across anyone dumb enough to pull a gun on me, to say, rob/mug me i'll comply. If their intent is to cause bodily harm i'll try my best to make it clear to them that if they shoot me they had better kill me because i will get with them later. And it will not end well for either of us.

Yup. I always try to make it obvious that I'm paying attention to everything. If some people are looking to mug someone, they'll probably pick the easiest target.

Paid off at least once, walking down an alley from club, and some guys walking past turned around to come at my back once they were out of my sight. But I turned to look at them and they stopped, turned around and walked off.

I've been trained how to deal with situations like that, but, training doesn't prepare you for the real thing. You gotta be ready, you gotta be focued and remember your damned training in a situation where you're cornered in an alleyway with a gun pointing in your face. You gotta be fast and strong, too. We used unloaded BB guns as practice in training. They're just as heavy as the real thing. What we did was one of the members would point the gun at another memeber, and that other member had to disarm and disable their "attacker". I'm too ill to go into detail right now, but I will later on, when I'm feeling better.
