i agree, Filth. i watch the damn thing everytime it comes on television. i once had the dvd but my crackhead brother sold it. Apparently someone else liked it as well. Even my best friend who despises all things "preternatural" (i used to think Anne Rice made that damn word up until i read some classics, Hawthorne has been known to use the word) likes the movie.

I really love the film and the books (although the film version of Queen of the Damned is utter crap in my opinion - and there are some pretty awful books in the series too if you read far enough into it).
I thought Tom Cruise was perfect as Lestat - although I now think his acting has gone downhill a lot. Funnily enough, I don't really find Brad Pitt at all attractive, except in this film. I think that's just to do with my penchant for men with long hair rather than the vampire factor!

All the people who don't like Interview seem to either be upset that the actors weren't hot enough or upset because it made them question their sexuality. I seriously doubt these were things on the directors minds when making the movie. At the time Tom, Brad and Antonio were the hottest male actors at the time and I respect each of them, especially Brad Pitt(Troy, Fight Club, Snatch). Also, if subject matter made you uncomfortable, you're probably a closet homosexual.
So right there, your complaints are coming from a modern standpoint and you are not considering the time the movie was made. The acting was superb. The pacing was excellent. It was an epic film. Awesome special effects. Great costumes and set locations for every era of the story.
It's a very good film.

I hate it because it was my Ex's favorite movie.
And everytime I think about her I think about how things went, and usually it takes an 50 bag of good green or a couple of bottles of whiskey for me to get fucked up enough to forget about that bitch for awhile.

For the time it was made, it was a good movie. Got it for christmas this year. Certainly more enjoyable than queen of the damned.

Actually Lestat (Tom Cruise) was great I think it is the only movie in wich I actually liked him.And I hate Brad Pitt but as a whiny Louise he was good. One of my friends told me that the director originally wanted Johnny Depp to play Lestat...Althgou he is my fav actor I don't think he could be a better Lestat than Tom Cruise was.

Loved the book, loved the movie
Cruise fits the role of Lestat very very VERY well, and although I hate Tom, I love Lestat.... they say that the role for Lestat was first ment for Johnny Depp but he declined it... can't really picture him as Lestat though
