Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I just got Gothic Kabbalah by Therion. Not bad. I was gonna mention Tristania too, I love Angelore, the male vocals are great. Within Temptation suck now a days... I couldn`t get through one of their new songs, it was stealing my stole. Sort of like what the new MASSIVE american eagle store did while I walked by it whilst looking for boxing day deals. Pure evil.

Eh... well, Within Temptation's new(er) stuff isn't really symphonic metal, if you ask me. But it's still good music.
Tristania is awesome-- I have their albums "Widow's Weed" and "Beyond the Veil". I'm hoping to get some more of their music, eventually... but it's kind of hard to find where I live. MUCH easier to just get it online, but it still tends to be expensive..

Buying music? Who the fuck does that?
But anyway, I might consider listening to Tristania if I were being paid to do so, but even then it'd be painful. And Within Temptation is even worse.

Fuck you. With a baseball bat. I buy music because I have a moral objection to illegal downloading, unlike so many members of my generation. And, if you don't like Tristania and Within Temptation so much, what DO you like? Any suggestions?

Lil Nino is a symphonic black metal band.

First of all, it's quite childish to start off with a personal attack when you actually expect a response (though I'm not sure you did).
To address your questions, most of the music I listen to is almost impossible to find on any sort of purchasable media, many Satanic Black Metal albums are limited to 666 copies. Most bands that don't exist in the mainstream, print very limited numbers of CD's/vinyls, and originals are ridiculously hard to get a hold of. This is usually done with the full knowledge that the music will be shared, and almost all underground bands don't care that this happens, they're not gonna make a fortune off their music, so they don't get all whiny about losing money. And anyway I'm poor, and wouldn't be able to buy their music anyway, so they're not losing money off me.
Your other question was what I listen to. Everything from Merzbow to Austere to Pavarotti.

I raise my hand to you. I love symphonic metal. I laughed when I found out that some people consider Dethklok symphonic metal.
But, I'm a big fan of Nightwish and Within Temptation.
I think the new Nighwish is okay, but it sounds to much like a wanabe Within Temptation now.

I didn't really expect a response to to that "personal attack"... although, you answered it in a better way than most would. That's a compliment, just to let you know.
That aside, it's really too bad that they limit their albums to so few copies... Why not make it 666,666,666 copies, or something? I'd think that would be more practical, if not cost-effective...

Ah, well... that's one of the few situations where I might download instead of buy. Might. I'd have to hear them first, and decide if I actually liked their sound or not.
