Requiem for a Dream

Has anybody seen this yet? It's this movie about these four people, whose lives are turned upside down by the world of narcotics. It's by far the grittiest movie I've ever seen. And possibly the greatest, in my opinion.

I rented it once a long time ago and watched it until the dvd fudged up a little over halfway through. It was thoroughly depressing, but had some nice visual effects, such as a creepy scene where a woman hallucinates a refrigerator moving of its own accord. Also brings up many issues surrounding drug addiction, addressing not only addiction to illegal substances, but legally prescribed "diet pills," sleeping medication and the like. While the film does have artistic value and paints a realistic picture of drug addiction of various types as well as the consequences, I didn't care overmuch for the film personally (or what I saw of it at least), and I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the best film out there.

I saw it once. That's all I'll ever have to see of it.

Saw it once as well. Thought it wasn't badly made, and it's sure bleak, but the story is way over the top. Drugs are bad, mmmkay, we get it already.

I saw Aronofski's first film Pi (the title is actually the mathemathical symbol but I can't be bothered to figure out how to type one) and although I don't remember much about it (and probably didn't get it, it wants to be rather cerebral and I was rather stoned watching it) I'm pretty sure I thought I liked it better when I saw Requiem.

Found it a great film and a great account of heroin addiction. But it always annoyed me when they did that cut-scene with the pupils dilating, because you're pupils don't actually dilate when you take heroin, they contract. Its a small thing, but it irked me.

What to you mean "yet?" It's been out for nine years...

It was a good movie, but definitely not a movie one would want to watch more than once.

I thought it was good. Unlike most people, I didn't find it disturbing. at all. Although it was messed up, I kind of enjoyed it because it was so trippy. In fact in a sort of sadistic way, I found it comical. Maybe it was the music!

I thought it wondrously stylish if a bit lacking in variety. The characters sometimes felt a bit simple, but I love the photography.

I really wasn't a huge fan, it was well done but there was nothing about it that I found moving about it.

Trainspoting's a good one, its got a bit more to it than just the downward spiral. Don't get me, I love watching people dive into ruin, but Trainspotting's more than just that.

One of the best movie I've ever seen.

It made me scare my refrigerator.

I loved the music, and the movie itself was well done, and depressing. But still spectacular.

Oh right, that was an Aronofski too, forgot all about that. That would be my favourite out of the three.

I found the "hip-hop montages" used to depict the drugs comical. You might've been laughing at those.
