Literature Please come visit. People get upset, write poetry about it, and post it here. Sometimes we also talk about books. |

It annoys me when people say "vs" instead of "v" and it's still publicized so.

I am currently immersed in Loot: The Battle over the Stolen Treasures of the Ancient World, by Sharon Waxman. It provides some fascinating information on the controversial history of the antiquities market, particularly regarding the efforts countries are making to seek the return of their most prized historical artifacts.

Jilian, can you please explain to me the thing about "vs" and "v"? I did try to look it up but quickly grew tired of not finding what I wanted, I didn't realise there was an issue of one now being void yet still publicized? All I can can find is "vs" as an abbreviation of versus, not "v".

That must've been interesting. Did she lecture about this topic in particular?

"Party Monster" by James St. James.
Good book! REALLY good book. In no way is it a literary masterpiece, but it's a real fun read and quite a story...a TRUE story, infact.

I have a friend currently obsessed with Party Monster.
While the story is proposed to be true, how true could it be?
It's written by someone who practically invented modern attention whoring and who was on drugs 24/7.

Thrilling read, one of the best instructions I've ever read. Good character development and plot twists.

Boooooo...Make an intro...Booooooo
But lately, after hitting up a used bookstore in a nice neighborhood last month, I picked up some major swag.
The script books for Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein
"Letting It All Hang Out" by RuPaul
"Making Faces" by Kevyn Aucoin
"Black Stars" by Eleanora Tate about past black musicians
And a book about black women's hair. I'd spill the title but I can't be arsed to bend over for it.

Right now I'm reading two books; Blood and Chocolate by Annette C. Klause, a werewolf book...
The second book I'm reading is The Inferno by Dante Alighieri (Some may know it as Dante's Inferno or Dante's Hell), its written in old English and hard to read sometimes >.< but still a very good book.

Paris and the Anarchists, by Alexander Varias
The Heptameron, by Marguerite de Navarre
Obsolete Communism, the Left Wing Alternative, by Daniel Cohn-Bendit
I really recommend that last one to anyone that consider themselves progressive or left wing.

I want to get and read an original copy of ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND with all the Tenniel illustrations. I've been dying to read the full story.
I realize it's online for free, but I'd rather read it in book form then on my computer screen.

"Bleak House by Charles Dickens". It's supposed to be his best work, we'll see about that.
