Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Eastern
I've been getting into Eastern music, specifically Indian and Middle Eastern. I've also gotten really into electronic music with Eastern influence.
Anyone else into this kinda thing, and does anyone have any recommendations? I especially would like more pure folk, but anything goes. I'm not a big fan of Japanese/Chinese/southeast Asian, a lot of it's too happy, but if it's something really good I'll give it a listen.
Some of my fav's:
Anastasia (Macedonian)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vS2B...eature=related
Kurotokage (electronic/ambient/Asian)
http://terrornoiseaudio.blogspot.com...l-to-deep.html
Can't find it on youtube or anything, you'll just have to trust me and DL it
Shakta & Moonweed (Goa trance)

Listened to the Anastasia one. It was pretty cool.

Haha, I love the Bollywood stuff. It's so cheesy it's awesome.
And behind the bad dancing, the music is great.

Bad dancing? I wish I could move like that! Damn.
But yeah, despite being terrible it's also wonderful. The first video is certainly my favorite, as Tunak Tunak Tun is very repetitive.
Listening to all of this Eastern music makes me want to play Diablo 2.

I liked the Celtic sounding music from #1 more.
But yea, it's not "bad" dancing, it's just really really cheesy.

But I like cheese, so that's fine by me.

This one's a little obvious, but... Juno Reactor. World influenced electronic music.

Yea, Juno Reactor's great. That's Goa Trance btw. In case you care...
Beyond The Infinite and Bible of Dreams are 2 of the best Goa albums EVER.

I knew. While we're on the subject, what's the difference between goa and psytrance? World influences?

Essentially, psytrance replaced Goa, but I guess the easiest way to explain it is that psy is more mechanical sounding, where Goa is more organic. Psy is usually darker and less melodic.
