Do you believe sloth, greed, lust, gluttony, anger, envy, and pride are sins?
Do you believe sloth, greed, lust, gluttony, anger, envy, and pride are sins?
They are listed as the seven deadly sins. Which, if any, of the seven deadly sins do you feel are bad?
Which of the seven deadly sins do you commit without shame and which of the seven deadly sins do you struggle not to commit and which do you feel no attraction to whatsoever?

Sins? Rubbish. Things you should avoid having in excess? Sure.
You'll find you're much happier if you try to minimize the amount of these "sins" in your life. Though Anger and Pride I don't check enough on myself.

Iīm a Satanist, I donīt believe in sins. Sins are there to repress people and to make them feel guilty about themselves. As a responible human being I will allow myself to commit any of these so- called "sins" if I feel like it. I am most likely aware of the consequences, and will stand up for my actions if need be.

Sin is just a term for "human nature" with negative connotations.

Pagan over here, also don't believe in sins. As Joker points out, there are things it's best not to do in excess .That's just common sense. If you sit on your arse all day -sloth- you'll become a fat bastard and end up with all sorts of health problems. Same result goes for Gluttony .Too much Lust and not enough thinking could land you an STD, possibly one of the more untreatable ones if you're really stupid. Envy just makes you miserable ( I should know ) and so on and so forth. Really these things have bugger all to do with Christianity and a hell of a lot more to do with basic common sense.

Just because they're not sins doesn't mean they're not bad.

Never said they weren't bad. They are, which is why it's best to avoid them if possible. But for your own good.

Don't think of them as "sins" then, think of them as vices, or seven things that are particularly damaging to human relationships.
Not everything ever written by a Christian is completely wrong, you know.

Yeah, but I still stand to what Iīve said. And, for argumentīs sake, let me add that I believe in balance above all things. That means if I eat a whole batch of cookies, I know I will have to be careful about my weight for a while, and possibly excersise a little to recreate the balance. But I still donīt see it as a bad thing, just a factor in the chain of reactions. If I do X, then I will possibly have to do Y to even it out later. Then, if Y seems to be more troublesome and not really worth it for being able to do X, Iīll consider not doing it. Thatīs also common sense, right?
And I donīt have anything at all against Christians or their beliefs (apart from the fact that I personally disagree with them and find them to be a bit too simplistic for my tastes). I have friends whoīre high ranking in the Catholic church, and have worked as cantor for many churches, and I donīt mind. Theyīre usually nice people.

LaVeyans usually adhere to those... Iīm not a member of the CoS and never will be. I couldnīt care less about their dogmas and doctrines.

Well, you've said that you're not a LaVeyan Satanist, I seriously doubt that you're a part of the Temple of the Black Light/Misanthropic Luciferian Order, and theological Satanists acknowledge sin, so it seems to me that you're just putting a different name to atheism.

The only Satanist Literature I've ever read is the Satanic Bible, as I prefer not to waste my time on these things, but in that work I do seem to recall that LaVey rejects the classification of most behavior traditionally regarded to be sinful as such, arguing that the Judeo-Christian moral paradigm hypocritically proscribes natural human impulses.
Not that LaVeyan Satanism isn't essentially atheism with a sexier name, some Objectivism, and a bullshit ritual magic system tacked on, but that's a different matter.

Foot & JCC - You know what, I donīt really care what you think of me. And really, you donīt seem to have a very good overview over the branches of Satanism, JCC, which isnīt really all that strange, since most of it is going on underground (no pun intended). I donīt feel the need to defend myself or my religious choices to people like you, who are quite clearly not disposed to discussing these matters respectfully and maturely and so I will refrain from doing so. If you really are interested in a serious discussion on more agreeable terms, I donīt mind, but at the moment I see no point in pursuing this conversation any further. Let us return to the topic at hand.

How the fuck did he disrespect you?
And when he posted something so neutral and you simply refuse to keep talking because you don't like what he's saying, how is he the on that isn't "discussing these matters respectfully and maturely"?
