Favorite/ Most Original Vampire Movies
I've gone through all of the threads and there are none like this so...
As far as artsy-fartsy goes, what are some of your favorite vampire movies?
You know. Movies that are not all gore. Movies that make you think as well.
They can have equal parts of both and that's all fine.

All right, so, my boyfriend and I spent at least 16 hours watching 8 adaptations of Dracula, and a few additional vampire-y films to round it out.
I came to the conclusion that the best "Dracula" film is the classic, Bela Lugosi version.
I personally prefer the 1922 Nosferatu to the 1979, but they are both very good, very artsy and the like.
Two EXCELLENT movies we stumbled across include Habit and the Hunger.
You might have heard of the Hunger, as it involves David Bowie and Bauhaus, and in general, is a masterpiece.
Habit is really beautiful, in an artsy way...it's all rather dream-like, but the plot is amazing. In my opinion, it's the best vampire film I've seen yet, so, yeah, I'd recommend all those!
Happy watching!

Emily left out "Martin", the best Romero movie you've never seen.

Oh yeah, Marvin was amazing. A great, great vampire film.
(I'm still digesting its sheer level of greatness, and thus forgot to add it to the list...my apologies.)

Well, I recently saw "Perfect Creature", and it was really interesting. It was a totally original concept for the vampire myth. Also, Razorblade Smile (be warned, it's very low budget) is one of my favorites, and the twist ending was awesome. Immortality (aka The Wisdom of Crocodiles) is also a more original concept.
I also really love Eternal Blood (aka Sangre Eterna), although the Spanish to English dubbing is problematic with getting the proper translation. It keeps you guessing as to whether the vampires are real, or the main character is just insane. (Plus, the all goth cast are total eye-candy!)
I also found Chronos, Vampires Kiss, and Love Bites to be rather interesting.
I also agree that Hunger and Habit are great.

I have yet to see the film, as it just came out on DVD here about a week or so ago, but the book is FANTASTIC. I would recommend it to anyone.
