Umbrage is in the eye of the beholder.
If I'm wearing a symbol, label, brand, tattoo, crest or some other type of totem that you seem to feel you should be offended by, don't you have the obligation of ascertaining the intent before judging the wearer?
Crosses, for instance, were used well before Christianity shanghaied them. Perhaps I should be offended that Christians wear them, except, wait ... I know none of them is wearing them to offend me. So any offense I might feel is my own fault.
