And these are men in power. Doesn't that just tickle your pickle?
I have my doubts about such men, though. No one can wilfully be so ignorant. I have suspected for a long time now that these men just use the bible to justify all that they're trying to do. For political leverage, and economic gain.

He wants to send his constituents, miners, back into the mines. Back to burning coal. Such vision, such forethought, a true paleoconservative.

Without getting into the major facepalm that I feel is coming, without even discussing why using the Bible to determine the scientific validity of global warming, no one is saying that global warming is going to destroy the world. Global warming is a natural process the Earth has gone through many times before, and life remains. Its not going to destroy all life and it probably won't destroy us, but it will destroy a lot of life that won't be able to adapt to the sudden change and make our lives pretty difficult, depending on how we can change and how we can slow this process down so that we have time to adapt.
Oh, shit, can't hold it off anymore. But instead of Picard, lets use the polar bear since its him that suffers because of this stupidity.

The guy really needs to read the whole chapters instead of just verses.
First of all, he's taking Genesis 8 out of context. God said that he wouldn't destroy the world again. Notice the words in the verse:
Quote:
|
I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
|
Note who God is saying won't destroy all life: He won't. He didn't say that He would save us from our own stupidity.
Second of all, Matthew 24, verse 31, is talking about the end of days. It's not talking about Global Warming, which while devastating, wouldn't wipe out all life on the planet.

Although I hate to lose a chance to take another free shot at the Bible, I have to agree. Not only is the guy an asshat for believing we don't have to worry about global warming because his invisible friend promised, but he can't even get his exegesises right. It's like failing at fail, except two negatives normally make a positive, so we need another negative in there to sort it back out. Failing at fail fail. Or something.
I just can't believe that in the 21st century, a person like this can even get elected, much less say that shit in a meeting about a global scale problem without the entire room erupting into laughter. Frankly what should happen is that he should be submited for immediate pyschological evaluation. If you think you can make prognostications about global climate patterns based on the random scribblings of ignorant goat herders, you are formally delusional.

Yeah, this is the price to pay for trying to use the bible as a Unified Field Theory instead of a guide to living.
(sigh) It seems that some instruction manuals need instruction manuals.

Man, this realy tickes me off.
If he have taken a look at "The revelatione" he would have noticed hove wrong he is. I am not a bible bumper, i am just useing the bible to prove a point. And, like manny of you have stated: useing the bible to poke holes in a theory that is sientificaly proven is just pure stupidety

Like horses? You want the house of representatives to talk about horses?

Oh...Wow...
And yet Daddy says I have to be proud of our forward thinking nation?
Can I just...copy Saya's facepalm image? Because that is really the only reaction I have right now.

I guess it's all relative. Compared to some places, the U.S. is very forward thinking.

I love clips like that. I wonder if that eejit knows how stupid he looks? I mean, once your on Google, your on there forever. Same goes for YouTube and the rest of the internet.
That clip will live on decades after he dies, and people will look back and be like, wow, what a feckin eejit.
That being said, his logic seems a bit skewed as well. Global warming can't destroy the world because God said he would not destroy the world by flood again, but if MAN destroys the world via flood, does that still count?

That can't be meant seriously, can it? I mean, something that monumentally stupid can't be serious?
