idealizing a beautiful stranger...
I do this a lot, but its a mistake cause the person usually turns out to be totally different than expected which can be very disappointing and hard to forget about... But idealizing helps get you interested in meeting them...

Are you talking about people who frequents the same places that you do? Or are you talking about chance encounters where you have never seen there person before?

yeah, you've seen someone around you've never met before either online or somewhere, imagined them to be a certain way before you met them and you meet them and they're totally different...

It is rather odd how people attempt to create a personality from an image, what is even stranger is how good we are at it. Sure we don't ever get everything right and sometimes we are way off base but for the most part we are mostly correct.

I often get infatuated with people I see out and about, girls I find very intriguing and attractive in a unique way. It's silly how easy it is for me to develop a crush on someone...

How dare they not fit your ideal, the nerve of some people to fuel your diappointment. You aren't developing a crush, you are creating a fantasy.

I never said they DIDN'T fit my ideal... I never even implied that. Your comment is uncalled for.

Centipedes..? Wtf..?
Back on topic: I think -all- of us do that, but it's pleasantly surprising if you find out the person isn't as bad as you thought they were. XD

Sometimes men come by the name of genius in the same way that certain insects come by the name of centipede--not because they have a hundred feet, but because most people can't count above fourteen.

No, not a centipede. And what I said didn't call for an insulting remark. I said I develop crushes on random people I see that intrigue me, as does a schoolboy. I said nothing of said person's character or anything of the sort. So yes, a nasty remark is uncalled for.
How was my comment any worse than the OP's in terms of rudeness?

I used to idealize people. Now I'm just prejudiced to them. That means my expectations of them can go either way, good or bad.

yes, and creating a fantasy sucks and is wrong in a way I created the man of dreams out of one I found on the internet and even though he turned out totally different in person inside and out, I still hold on to the fantasy and keep his picture....I love it but I hate it...
